Jim Halpert

Image

Jim is a Sales representative for Dunder Mifflin. His job is “to speak to clients on the phone about quantaties and type of copier paper. Whether we can supply it to them. Whether they can pay for it.” He wonder what he will do with all the useless knowledge when he is done working there. He’s too talented for his position, but he is too satisfied with the relaxed work environment…and having Pam around.

Jim has an incredible sense for a practical joke. He immediately picks up on anyway that he might be able to torment Dwight Schrute. However, he does have a caring side that is shown when one of the other characters are in need.

Jim has interest in Pam, but he won’t tell her. This is often quite irritating to the audience.

Jim is definitely the best character on the show. He is so sweet! My friends and I refer to him as Jimathy….instead of Timothy, you know, uh, Jimathy and Timothy rhyme so that’s why we, uh, call him that.*side-long glance at camera* It’s just a nickname for him…:)

Feels he “has no future” in the Scranton office, thinking of transferring to Stamford office.

I have a theory he’s going to hook up with Jan before it’s all said and done…

    Jim, oh Jim…
Good enough at his job but not the best…has more potential but does just enough to get by. Also really good at basketball!
Friendly with everyone in the office, even Michael, which gets him in trouble when he confides in the big-mouthed boss too easily on the Booze Cruise.
Dies a little from boredom only to have Pam revive him. Becomes an exuberant leader in situations like the Office Olympics.

-The precarious relationship between Pam and Jim keeps The Office’s foot in the drama catagory, if only partially. Jim’s tantalizing interest in Pam is only matched only by his love of frustating Dwight from putting stapler’s in Jello to placing Dwight’s entire desk in the Men’s Restroom.

Here is a list of pranks that Jim has played on Dwight:
(these are all from wikipedia, I didnt think of them all)

Encased Schrute’s stapler in Jell-O. (”Pilot”)

Paid coworkers five dollars to call Schrute “Dwayne” for an entire day. (Mentioned in “Conflict Resolution”)

Posted Schrute’s resume online, and noted that he’d like to work out of state. (”Halloween”)

Relocated Schrute’s desk to the men’s restroom. (”The Fight”)

Convinced Schrute an abandoned infant was in the women’s restroom, causing him to walk in on Meredith “on the can.” (Mentioned in “Conflict Resolution”)

Created a macro causing Schrute’s name to read “diapers” when input on Schrute’s own PC. (Mentioned in “Conflict Resolution”)

Substituted Schrute’s writing instruments with crayons. (Mentioned in “Conflict Resolution”)

Assisted Pam in one item as she prepared a list of absurdly fake ailments during Schrute’s dictatorial reign over the office’s health care plan. (”Health Care”)

Placed Schrute’s wallet and desk items in the company vending machine, which he had to buy back with a bag of nickels. (”Booze Cruise”)

Incrementally increased the weight of Schrute’s telephone handset, then abruptly decreased the weight, causing Schrute to smack himself in the face with the phone. (Mentioned in “Conflict Resolution”)

Convinced Schrute a Thursday was a Friday, leading to Schrute’s tardiness on the following day. (”Performance Review”)

Placed a bloody glove in Schrute’s desk and attempted to convince him that he had committed murder. (Mentioned in “Conflict Resolution”)

Labeled Schrute a flatulent security risk on an oversized identification badge.(”Conflict Resolution”)

Lured Schrute to participate in an “alliance”, which ended up with Schrute being voluntarily packaged in a box in the warehouse. (”The Alliance”)

Convinced Schrute to purchase a purse from a vendor, and then makes fun of him for having it. (”Hot Girl”)

Convinced Schrute to give a “Salesman of the Year” award speech patterned after a speech by Benito Mussolini. (”Dwight’s Speech”)

Moved Schrute’s desk two feet closer to the copier by moving it about an inch every time Schrute went to the bathroom. (Mentioned in “Conflict Resolution”)

Convinced Schrute to dye his hair blond in order to spy on the Stamford branch. (”The Alliance”)

With the help of Pam, convinced Schrute that he had telekinetic powers. (”Casino Night”)

Jim is the funny guy in the Office that almost everyone likes. He and Pam set up an Office Olymipics while Michael and Dwight were away which was a huge hit. Ever since they started working together, Jim and Pam have had a flirtacious relationship. Although Pam is engaged Jim has confessed to the worlds worst confidant (Michael) that he has a crush on her. Jim was a basket ball player in highschool, enjoys playing pranks on Dwight, and drinking Grape Soda (It’s Grape!……. soda).

Does an amazing impression of everyone in the office, including Michael:

“My name is Michael Scott, and I am the manager of this orafice…”

    Thought of a few more:

Dressed up as 3 hole punch Jim for Halloween.

    Drives a red Toyota Corolla.

In a fire he would save the receptionist first.

Drinks A LOT of coffee throughout the day.

Becky, I noticed that he drinks an unusual amount of coffee during the day too! I guess you would need it to stay awake during the day if you worked at Dunder Mifflin.

Jim has a roommate named Mark, and thinks that three ingredients for a good party are: three cases of imported beer, a kareoke machine, and not inviting Michael.

Jim is really friendly and easy-going and I think afraid to realize his full potential because of the risk that moving up in the world would take him away from Pam. He recently interviewed with Jan about transferring to the Stamford branch, but after professing his love to Pam AND kissing her, it’ll be interesting to see how things pan out in the 3rd season for Jim.

Sarah, definitely weird about the coffee. It just hit me the other day after rewatching all of season 2 that he almost always has a mug in his hand.

Oh, I think we should also add that he is a mighty fine kisser ;).

He has two thumbs and hates Todd Packer.

He has no future at Dunder Mifflin and has no dreams, but he does enjoy watching really crappy bands’ audition tapes.

Also, he is my future husband.

My favorite Dwight prank? The nickels in the handset, of course! “I hit myself in the head with my phone today.”

Jim is our long-suffering hero. Pam needs to open her eyes.

Ditto on the coffee mug, but in Performance Review he’s definitely making tea in the kitchen.

Jim’s feelings on Michael not being able to say “That’s what she said” anymore…

“Wow, that is really hard. Do you really think you can go all day long? Well, you always left me satisfied and smiling. So…”

–One of my fav moments from The Office.

Mimics Michael saying “That’s what she said” in Conflict Resolution. He seems to be friends with everyone, except Dwight. The vending machine guy, invites IT guy to party, friendly with firefighters. Considering transfer to Stanford. Dresses up as 3 hole punch version of Jim. Has a karoke machine. Dated Katy, broke up on the Booze Cruise.

And of course, in love with Pam.

He transferred to the Stanford branch because he got a promotion (obviously). Actually he transferred because of Pam…because he kind of laid it all on the line, twice…and she rejected him, twice.
He is not good at Call of Duty. He likes to make sure that his female coworkers have their favorite kind of chips. He usually eats a ham and cheese sandwich for lunch but on his first day at Stanford he ate a tuna salad sandwich instead and now his coworker Andy calls him Big Tuna.
His coworker Karen seems to have a crush on him and may like her as well. He doesn’t seem to have any contact with Pam at this point.

In a deleted scene from “The Client,” Jim says that his worst first date was at Cugino’s just down the street from Dunder-Mifflin. They hit it off well…really well in fact. But he found out that she was in love with someone else. So, oddly enough, his best first date was also his worst first date.

Saddest moment of the entire 2nd season.

I’m a little bit in love with Jim Halpert =] He’s the best character easily. His relationship with Pam is adorable but they need to be together already! And I hate Roy. Jim’s jokes on Dwight are hilarious. Needless to say, I love Jim!
