Ryan is one of the more competent employees at the company, usually a step ahead of his on-staff co-workers. He attends business school at nights, and arguably knows more about business than his boss, Michael.
It’s also of interest to me that Ryan uses a Mac, while the rest of the office uses Windows machines.
Anyone have idea what temp agency Ryan works for?
There was a temp agency that just went out of business in ’05 called “Staffing Plus More” that “proudly served Scranton.” The company was perfect for the character.
Kelly has a thing for him that he wants nothing to do with, unless it can be an occasional no-commitments fling.
Constantly hitting on girls.
Started The Fire by leaving his cheese bread in the toaster too long…reluctantly becomes a “guy” in the office, “Fire Guy.”
Michael is (not-so) secretly in love with him…
Goes to alot of parties.
Ryan, the office temp, serves an interesting role in The Office in that he is both a lackey and superior, in Michael’s eyes. After only a few weeks attending business school, Ryan’s attendance at business school captivates Michael while Ryan’s position lowers him to driving Packer around, being tackled by Dwight, or finding yams and pudding for Michael.
After hooking up with Kelly Kapur, Ryan realizes the magnitude of his action as Kelly hints at weddings and children they are to have…immediatley.
Wins the “Hottest in the Office” Dundie and is Michaels’ pick for “Person You’d Do” in the desert island game in the “Fire Drill”.
Wants to own his own business some day.
Overhears Dwight and Angela talking about “cookie” in the break room and gets super freaked out.
I think when Ryan first started he was very willing to please Michael and do whatever he asked him, now you can clearly see the reluctance on his face whenever Michael starts talking to him. But that still doesn’t stop him from having to run ridiculous errands, like going all the way to Carbondale to get Michael pudding cups, buying three full chickens of all dark meat, picking up pizza plus driving to Michael’s mom’s house only to break into the basement and get his guitar and video of “Fundle Bundle”
To quiet Michael’s complaints in The Injury, he crushes extra strength aspirin and stirs it in pudding, just like he does for his dog.
Ignores voice mails from Michael and Kelly, claiming his voice mail is “spotty” sometimes.
Makes the mistake of giving Michael his cell number…is badgered by Stanley’s daughter for his cell number or e-mail. Later Stanley chews him out for “sniffin around” his daughter.
Again maybe I tend to look at things deeper then they really are, but in ‘Casino Night’ Jim asked Ryan if he was still with Kelly. Instead of giving a I feel sick look, like he usually does, he had sort of a small smile on his face. This could mean that maybe he doesn’t mind being with her. I couldn’t see why though they seem so oddly matched. You never know, love is a funny thing. : )
I like this character a lot for some reason! He seem, dare I say, “normal” compared to everyone else. : ) He is like an outsider looking in on them, and he definitely doesn’t want to be part of the family. In ‘The Fire’ he says he doesn’t want to be that guy and in ‘The Secret’ we see he has nothing personal on his desk.
Also one of my fav moments from the show is the look on Ryan’s face when he hears Dwight and Angela talking about ‘cookies’ and figures out they are together. It’s priceless!!
Does NOT like to think about ending up at DM permanently. As a past temp, I understand his pain. Kelly and Ryan have a weird thing.
He is a part of the party planning committee.
Had an interest in Katy.
Likes cheese pitas.
Can’t operate a toaster oven.
“If I had to, I could clean out my desk in five seconds and nobody would ever know I had ever been here. And I’d forget too.”
Throws away Office Olympic medal and I’m guessing he threw the Dundee away too.
Looks terrified and his eyes dart around as if he’s looking for an escape when Michael hands out plastic roses and Valentines to the women in the office. Can you blame him?
He is now a full time Dunder Mifflin employee.
Doesn’t like ketchup
According to Toby, Ryan is dead when Michael asks for help in the restroom.
Fondly remembers a time when there was only one party he didn’t want to go to.
Wants to know why Kelly’s giggling sisters mentioned Zach Braff when talking about him.
Reminds me so much of myself at my job, it’s eerie (I am not a temp, but I do seem to end up as the errand boy more often than not).
he hates the michael calls
“Hi!! Ryan this is mike tyson”
“Hi!! Ryan this is Michael Jackson and Tito”.
“Hi! Ryan This is Saddam Hussein”
“Ryan This is Your Girlfriend and i´m Pisst”
