HR Representative, as Michael says sneeringly, “Toby is in HR [Human Resources], which technically means he works for corporate, so he’s really not a part of our family. Also, he’s divorced, so he’s really not a part of his family.”

HR Representative, as Michael says sneeringly, “Toby is in HR [Human Resources], which technically means he works for corporate, so he’s really not a part of our family. Also, he’s divorced, so he’s really not a part of his family.”
Michael hates him and views him as a rival due to Toby telling a joke and getting the employees to actually laugh.
Enjoys taking money from Michael.
Still lists his ex-wife as his emergency contact.
Attended Bishop O’Hare (just like Katy) and graduated in ’88.
Spent an indeterminate amount of time in Amsterdam after his divorce.
He has a daughter named Sasha who took a liking to Michael during “Take Your Daughter to Work Day”
Invented Dunder-Ball.
Spent a night in his car after he split with his wife.
He drew Angela’s name for the secret Santa in the Christmas Party episode. He had to buy her the much famed (and much hated by Oscar) creepy baby poster featuring babies playing saxophone.
He created a special file for all of Dwight’s complaints against Jim. He told Dwight that he sent them to a permanent file in New York, when he actually just put them in a box underneath his desk.
Is constantly reminded by Michael that he is divorced and has no one to go home to.
Toby plays poker against Michael in the Casino episode and Michael loses.
According to Michael, Toby’s answer to everything is “get divorced”
Toby, a man still hurting from a painful divorce, must everyday from nine-to-five, deal with a man, Michael Scott, who mocks his pain. The interesting thing about it is, for all technical purposes, Toby, who works for HR, is actually above Michael on the corporate ladder. It makes for an interesting slant on their conversations and interactions.
“Actually, I didn’t think it was appropriate to invite children, since it’s, uh, you know, there’s gambling, and alcohol, and it’s in our dangerous warehouse, and…it’s a school night, and, you know, Hooters is catering. Y’know…Is that enou- Is that enough? Should I keep going?”
I feel really bad for Toby. He is having a hard time in his personally life and Michael and Dwight are giving him troubles at work. He can’t seem to catch a break.
He did mention after winning all of Michaels chips in ‘Casino Night’ that he liked taking things from him and that he would pursue that. Maybe it means nothing or maybe he will try to take Michael’s job, kind of like in the English version.
Toby is probably one of the more down-to-earth characters. As HR representative, Dwight is constantly delivering him with complaints about Jim, which Toby insists are going “straight to New York.” These complaints were actually sent to a special box under Toby’s desk.
Toby has a separate file for complaints about Michael.
Took away Michael’s corporate card once because he bought magic supplies “to impress a client.”
He sleeps in his car a lot, according to Michael. (But really, it was just the one time). He also enjoys the rush he gets from stealing from Michael. He and Michael don’t get along…
Kept his ex-wife as his emergency contact but didn’t want her to be identified as ex.
Toby on Casino Night:
“Actually, I didn’t think it was appropriate to invite children since it’s, uh, you know, there’s gambling and alcohol. And it’s in our dangerous warehouse. And it’s a school night. And, you know, Hooters is catering. Is that enou-is that enough? Should I keep going?”
“I am not going to lie…it felt good to take Michael’s money.” I sure it did after Michael said “Tobi, your answer to everything is to get divorced.” SO MESSED UP! I like Tobi.
He’s a guy, sort of. Skipped the Warehouse in Boys and Girls.
Michael hates so much about everything he chooses to be.
I loved how he said it.
Knows what a hookah is.
“The Convention” reveals his last name is Flenderson.
Made serveral attempts to ask Pam out after learning she was ack on the market… also he and Pam seem to be becoming good friends.. He help convince Michael to unlock the poeple from the conference room in “The Convict” also had his robe stolen from him by Dwight when Michael learned they were short one robe. Recieved another from Pam later that episode, “A Benihana Christmas”
The best character on the show. Toby is hilarious
