Favorite Office Relationship?

Tuesday, February 7, 2006

One of my favorite things about The Office is the way that the characters interact with each other. I admit that I look forward to when certain people are in the scene and there are others that I don’t care much for while watching. There are so many interesting relationships.

  • Michael and Pam
  • Michael and Jan
  • Michael and Ryan The Temp
  • Michael and Dwight
  • Michael and Jim
  • Dwight and Angela
  • Dwight and Jim
  • Pam and Jim
  • Someone else?

For myself, I really like it when Jim and Dwight are doing a scene. I love it that Dwight naturally talks down to Jim, not realizing that he is very much the odd one. Jim handles him well. One of my favorite scenes of all time is when Jim is convincing Dwight that it is Friday instead of Thursday in the “Performance Review” episode.

What is your most entertaining relationship in The Office? (Yes, your responses will be eligible for the contest.)

My favorite Office relationship is without a doubt:

    Michael and reality.

    You can’t beat those dynamics.

  2. kristy says:

With a show this good it’s hard to have an absolute favorite….

but I do enjoy michael and dwight.

two people in their own little worlds colliding.

  3. Michael G says:

I love Jim and Dwight, Dwight is talking down to Jim and Jim just lets it roll off of him. In the end we know Jim will get him back. It may not be today, but the next day Dwight may find all of his desk items in the vending machine.

  4. Kim says:

Dwight and Jim. I love Jim’s pranks.

I also really enjoyed Dwight and Michael’s paper mache head. hehe

  5. Michael G says:

Michael and Jan is another one, Michael sees something that doesn’t exist, a relationship with her. His desperation and how alone he is is never more apperant. Any other man would just notch his belt and move on. Michael wants to be her belt to be worn everyday.

  6. Jamie says:

Well, Jim and Pam are a given. Besides that, I especially love Jan and Michael. She’s one of the few that can put him in his place for about, oh, .05 seconds, before he bounces right back into idiotic delusion. So yeah, even if their “relationship” must always be in quotations, Michael and Jan are the special treat for me.

My favorite relationship on the show is Jim and Pam. For so many reasons… I guess I’m just a hopeless romantic.

I LOVE the interaction between Jim and the documentary crew (camera). The way he looks at the camera like “Are you getting this?” or “Can you believe he (usually Michael) said/ did that?” One of my favorites was on the Booze Cruise episode when he said that he would give the doc. crew his paycheck if Michael didn’t say “I’m the king of the world.” Michael of course does it and the camera immediately pans to Jim, who points at his watch.

    Two relationships that intrigue me:

Michael and Ryan: like the hints about Michael’s “crush” on Ryan

Dwight and Angela: want to see more!

  8. sam says:

    dwight and jim.

    suck-up and smarty-pants. perfect!

  9. Kurt says:

Dwight and Angela. No other interaction is as reliably funny.

  10. Cory says:

While we’re all cheering for Jim and Pam, I think my favorite is Michael and Ryan.

A particularly favorite scene: Ryan is at the desk where Pam sits, and says, “Jim has been looking at me a lot…But it’s nothing like the way Michael looks at me…” Cue awkward and unbelievable laughter.

  11. Brian says:

Kurt, when Dwight and Angela did the half smiles, I was dying laughing. Than Kevin blurts out “What are you two doing?”

  12. I agree that Jim and Pam are sort of a given, and after that there are so many! I think I like Michael and Dwight the best, because they’re both just so self-unaware. I also love the relationship between Pam and the camera, when she shoots that deadpan look.

  13. Jaime says:

I love the awkwardness of Dwight and Angela — even though she considers it the most healthy relationship of her life. I love that.

I also love Jim and Pam.

And I love the interactions between Jim and Ryan.

  14. Leigh says:

Michael and Dwight, definitely. Followed closely by Dwight & Jim.

  15. Andy DC says:

Pam and Jim have such tension, but Dwight and Angela win for the entertaining couple with their unique quirks and secretive ways.

  16. dave says:

i live in brazil and I only had the oportunity to see the making off… i hope i get to see a episode soon. =/

  17. Johnny Boy says:

    Jim and Pam, obviously.

    Michael and the warehouse guys.

Jim and Dwight. I like it when Dwight gets what’s coming to him.

  18. Michael G says:

Dave from Brazil. ( by the way, I Love the food)
Get The Office on iTunes. ALl of them are there.

  19. Margo says:

    1. Jim and Pam
    2. Jim and Dwight (Jim slashing Dwight’s fitness ball)
But one of my favorite scenes is with Jim and Creed in the Christmas Party episode. When Jim says: “He clearly forgot to get me something, so he went into the closet, dug out this little number, and threw it in a bag.” And then Creed goes: “Yep. That’s exactly what happened.” Love that part!

  20. Laura says:

I definitely like Jim and Pam, and Dwight and Jim. (Who am I kidding, I just like Jim!) But one of my other favorites is anything between Michael and Stanley. The responses Stanley the Manley gives to Michael are always classic.

  21. Jay says:

Michael and Ryan the temp. Ryan despises him so much. It’s great.

  22. Brian says:

Laura, Great one. I forget how often Stanley and Michael clash.

  23. I love the relationship Dwight has with the camera. The knowing looks, nods, and Bert-like eyebrow movements are priceless.

  24. Andrew says:

I really like scenes between Michael and Ryan. Specifically when they are in the car in “The Fire” Ryan:”I’m really uncomfortable right now” ….kills me every time!

  25. Eugene says:

Pam and Jim. They are the island of normalcy in an ocean of madness.
I also like Jan and Michael. I love watching Jan deal with Michael’s follishness.

  26. amanda says:

    PAM AND JIM FO LIFE!!!!

  27. Aaron says:

Michael and Ryan for sure. The entire “The Fire” episode, the ipod thing at the Christmas party, the bits in “The Injury” and “The Secret”. Great, great stuff.

  28. Jane says:

The relationship bewtween Zithlord (Dwight) and Michael’s second head was beyond amazing.

“Yeah, I agree he’d land on his feet.”
    “Quiet, you”

  29. Kristi says:

    Jim and Dwight
    Jim and Pam
    Jim and the documentary crew

  30. Brian says:

    Kristi…does someone have a crush?

  31. Vanessa says:

DEFINITELY Michael and Ryan. It’s so strangely attractive.

  32. ed says:

    what about dwight and ryan.

my favorite so far was dwight singing “ryan started the fire!”

  33. Claire says:

I love Jim and Pam. While their relationship is less funny than the others, it is such great chemistry. They cast this show perfectly.

  34. Jaime says:

Someone posted a video of a brokeback mountain and office combination featuring Ryan and Michael on Livejournal. I believe give me my remote has it up on their site.

  35. Kenneth says:

I saw that video! It was hilarious! Whoever made it is a genius.

    My favorite relationships:

    1) Angela and Kevin- Hilarious! Favorite scene with them:
Kevin: He’s (Michael) gotta come out sometime (chuckles) to go to the bathroom.
    Angela: Kevin that’s inappropiate

2)Angela and Dwight- They are such a creepy couple!
