“Valentine’s Day”

Season 2 Episode 16

Michael heads off to New York for a presentation and reunion with Jan. Those who are left behind at Dunder Mifflin get to enjoy the highs and lows Valentine’s Day.

My favorite part this week was the way that Michael was showing us around New York, New York. (Also named Manhattan.) He walked around acting like he was totally in the know about the good pizza joints and the non-tourist activites. But the coolest thing was that you could tell that these scenes were not set up. You could see people in the background noticing who he was and staring for a bit. Luckily, in a place like New York not too many people care. (Heck, Conan took a walk right through the scene.)

Michael in NYC

Three other things we learned from this show:

  1. Roy is still Roy
  2. Jan is a sucker for Valentine’s Day. Maybe Michael sent her his playlist to put her in the mood.
  3. If Dwight Bobbleheads went on sale, they’d be huge.

“Everyone uses the subway in New York. It’s quick, it’s safe…ugh, there’s a guy taking a dump in a cardboard box down there.”

Is anybody else having trouble downloading the episode off of iTunes?

I am really hoping NBC posts the entire video that Michael presents at corporate. I am dying to see the thing in its entirety.

jan jan jan.. what was she thinking! ha.

I loved his scenes around new york too. and sbarro.

I liked how they showed that Michael can be sincere and somewhat… normal… when he apologized to jan’s boss.

Instead of putting pam and jim together and making it weird they did it with two other people. I’m glad they did that. I’m glad the pam jim thing was low key.

I love it that Jan saw Michael’s glance to the camera after she kissed him. Usually it is just the audience that see those.

And was I the only one that though Michael would be the one to do the kissing?

aside from the new york “tour”…my favorite stuff from last night was probably pam’s building rage over feeling short-changed on v-day. maybe after she gets “the best sex of her life” she’ll cheer up. yeah right!

I loved Meredith passing out on her desk. That was hilarious.

And then even though it was sad, I liked Jim’s speech to Kelly — even though she didn’t really get it.

and the Itunes download won’t be available until later today, most likely for the person who mentioned it.

I liked how Kelly kept on telling her story about Ryan even though Jim was half way out the door. Oh and Dwight asking Pam for advice — Okay shut up. Haha
Oh and Ryan looking all stressed and pulling his hair — poor guy.
That was one of my favorite episodes so far!

Is Kelly always that color coordinated? I couldn’t take my eyes off of the purple ensemble.

I’m a little impatient to “meet” some of Jim’s friends, to learn more about Pam’s wedding plans, and meet Pam’s parents.

I expect to see more Mose involvment with Angela visiting Dwight’s house. 2 in a 9 bedroom farmhouse with a crossbow range was the ideal situation - 3 might make it a crowd.

I’m pretty sure the Conan bit was scripted ;)

The Bobble head looked WAY TO REAL. I would not sleep if that was in the house.

The best was Phylis walking out of the office with that Giant Teddy bear on her back.

I still don’t get why this show is that funny. Me and Leia watched a bit but can never get into it. sorry

New York, New York. Such a nice city they had to name it twice…Manhatten is the other name.

Can someone please explain to me why Pam doesn’t dump Roy like a sack of rotten potatoes? I mean…last week, he’s complaining about taking her on dates to his warehouse buddies, and this week he can’t even drop $20 to get her flowers for Valentine’s Day?

He irritates me no end. I hope Pam has enough sense to not marry him.

I thought the Dwight bobble head was awesome. I really want one, even though I can’t fully explain why.

Great episode! I laughed out loud that Phyllis’s flowers were signed “Love, Bob Vance, Vance Refrigeration.”

The NY tour was great, especially going to Sbarro for a NY slice, and the great restaurants in Times Square, like Red Lobster.

I like Dwight’s description of how he lures women in like “wolves”

So for all of you that are enamored with the Bobble Head. You too can get one specially made from Whoop Ass Enterprises.

Can we just say that I’ve been looking for a place to get these made for a few friends I know and now that I know that I can get them relatively cheap I’m stoked — a few years ago to get one required a minimum order of a hundred and the cost was ridiculous. I’m sure that NBC’s The Office store will carry them shortly. If not, NBC is missing out big!

And though it’s often subtle, my favorite actual relationship has become Dwight/Angela. I just love their relationship which is a completely functional great relationship to them. While to most of us it’s just completely disfucntional.`
