A Little Confused with Jan

This image hits me on different levels.
I’m glad to see that the storyline will continue because Michael is very funny with his girlfriend talk. However, Jan has got some explaining to do. After months of telling him to forget about it, she has to go and kiss him. Why do you think that is?
Was she lonely on Valentine’s Day?
Did she like what she saw with his classy apology?
Is it his street smarts…and book smarts?
Do you think that she’ll regret it immediately again or will we see a little bit of a relationship?
One things is for sure, as long as Michael keeps hooking up with Jan than Dunder-Mifflin Scranton won’t be downsized and we won’t lose any of our characters!!

I was secretly hoping for this. Being that incompetence begets incompetence, it figures that Jan isn’t the corporate statue that she makes herself out to be. If she was, she would have fired Michael a long time ago.
But more importantly, I think she’s hot, so if this makes it more likely that we’ll see her semi-naked, then I’m all for it!

I think she saw him as her ‘knight in shining armor’ Saving her job and taking the fall for their drunken trist. She was thanking him in a way Michael will never understand.
She only Kissed him and did not really touch him. So there was no affection, just a thankful kiss.

That was more than just a “thankful kiss”. If you watch again, you’ll see it’s definitely a passionate one.
I think the whole time Jan told Michael to forget about the incident, she was just trying to cover up for the fact that she truly did have feelings for him. Alcohol may have brought them out, but they were definitely there to begin with.
Now, why she has these feelings for Michael I will never understand.

I would have to agree with Aaron on this one. I definitely thinking that there’s more to it than meets the eye. If there was nothing more than just “Michael thank you”, then she wouldn’t have been looking at him the way she was
Granted, she was like, “Oh no, the camera caught us.” So, who knows, we’ll have to see where the character development goes with this. Needless to say, this wasn’t there in the British version…

Awww, I saved the picture.
Seriously, Jan has some underlying feelings for Michael. I’m not expecting any more to come of them until S3 (That’s so exciting to say! S3 of the office! Yay!) but they are SO there.
Oh come on, I don’t care how what a stupid accidently racist/sexist/total idiot he is. Did you see Messyhair!Michael in the Secret? How can you not love that?
(plus, his actually human!Michael moments make up for the rest.)

I lovvvve Michael/Jan. I really do. It’s so… Jim/Pam minus ANGSTTT.
What I wonder most is Michael’s reaction to it. We didn’t see much other than a few stutters before the elevator closed, and I wonder what he’ll take the situation as. HE probably won’t think it was just a thank you, but we’ll see.

> Was she lonely on Valentine’s Day?
Yes. I think so.
> Did she like what she saw with his classy apology?
I think it was more a great sense of relief. It was Michael’s idiocy that created the situation. I think we were all amazed he could fix it.
> Is it his street smarts…and book smarts?
Ba ha ha! Michael is a well-meaning doof. No “smarts” involved.
> Do you think that she’ll regret it immediately?
Oh yeah. Big Time. Her “oh no” at seeing the cameraman was classic.
Jan is recently divorced so she is vulnerable. Michael does have a bumbling sort of charm, but the rational part of her brain tells her not to get involved with him.

I definitely think it was a “that was a good thing you did” kinda thank you kiss…. when he was apologizing and explaining in the office, she seemed really surprised and touched by how maturely he handled it

Wasn’t that Chip Esten from Whose Line Is It Anyway playing Josh from the Stamfoed office? I gotta believe he’ll be back as Michael’s rival/nemesis in the future. (Sorta like Neil in the English version)

For some strange reason, I like Michael. Maybe it’s because we see (once in a while) a side of him that’s not so…grating. Like his apology. Or what he said to Jim on the “booze cruise” about Pam. Or Halloween where he was genuinely nice and interested in the kids that came to his house for trick-or-treat (which was one of the first episodes I remember watching, and what got me hooked).
I think there’s something there. There has to be. Because if the Pam/Jim storyline comes to fruition or dies out, there needs to be another layer to keep the show interesting and going. And after the Jan/Michael storyline, there needs to be another layer…and on, and on, and on.
I don’t know what Michael will do. But I bet it includes lots of boasting.

My reasoning for the “thank you kiss” was from the time they “Fell asleep in the same bed”. He did not take advantage of her at that time. She see him as honorable, and willing to protect her.
Maybe more will come from it, (Women are pretty easy to swoon). But for now she was thanking him for protecting her honor (and Job, and chastity)
(Have I reached my max comments for the contest?)

I think Jan’s inflatuation for Michael is much how we see him on the show. He comes off very crude and out of place for the business world. Then he does stuff like the video presentation — which clearly touched Jan. And he had still done his work on the financial profile of the company. And then he actually showed his classy side when he was appologizing. I think we all see that him in different episodes. But then at moments like where he is giving Jim advice on the Booze Cruise — we see a different side of Michael.

as amy said, he’ll come back to the office with some puffed up story for sure. that’s going to be funny because i think he feels most of his staff doesn’t buy that they COULD hook up. he’s insecure and this just made him king of the f***ing world. bravo, michael! bravo!

> Then he does stuff like the video presentation — which clearly touched Jan
Really? I read Jan’s look as one of disbelief and worry. Once again Michael does somethign — with the best of intentions — that is unprofessional and inappropriate for a business meeting. At least he did have the financial numbers ready.

I definitely think that Jan is into Michael, but because of her position knows that she shouldn’t act upon it. That was more than a thank you kiss. After all the trouble the last kiss got her into, don’t you think she would have learned a lesson by now? Michael is so sweet most of the time. He’s funny and caring too. Yeah, he can definitely be annoying and inappropriate but that just makes him all the more charming. I think Jan wants him.
