Michael’s Birthday

I know I’m sounding like a broken record every week, but this was one of the best episodes so far. Michael was back to his annoying self as he tried to deflect birthday praise and search for it at the same time. Of course, he didn’t like that Kevin was getting all the attention becaue he was waiting to hear from the doctor on whether he had skin cancer.

There were two parts that I literally laughed out loud. 1) The raising of the roof at the beginning of the episode and 2) Ryan’s uncomfortable time in the kitchen with Dwight and Angela talking about getting “cookie”. Number 2 could have been the funniest moment this whole season. It was perfectly played by Ryan The Temp.

What was your favorite part?

The skating was the best. The skating was perfect Michael. Showing him as actually good at something. But still still given to self-delusion, sure you could have played in the NHL. :)

The check on Toby, Oscar figureskating. Michael’s moment with the kids. I loved it.

Oh, I didn’t see this posted yet, dont miss the rest of the “more you know” PSAs at www.nbc.com/The_Office/video/sub_122.shtml

Easily…the look on Ryan’s face after Angela and Dwight had their words was classic. That was the best facial expression ever! I also enjoyed Michael cutting out a livestrong braclet from yellow paper. Awesome.

My favorite by far was Ryan’s horrified/confused expression. Also, Michael slamming Toby into the wall, and the cut to Oscar figure skating was awesome, hilarious episode. Oh, and the PSA’s are unbelievably funny. Jenna was adorable also on Jay Leno last night, if anyone caught that.

you guys already took the good stuff, but some of my favorite moments also included the “italian” suit comment…er wait…”made in bulgaria” HAHA. ooooh, one that you haven’t mentioned, michael’s mistaking the delivery woman for a stripper. “this chair has arms; is that going to be a problem?” priceless.

Hands down, Ryan’s look after Angela/Dwight cookie conversation in the break room.

It seemed to me that this episode is the “Angela episode”. She definitely in rare form.

The funniest for me was Creed playing the video game.

That really was a great episode, made better by the PSA’s and Jenna Fischer being on Jay Leno. Great night for the Office.

“When the son of the deposed King of Nigeria emails you directly asking for help, you help…”
the whole pyramid scheme scene was awesome!

I loved Ryan’s reaction to Dwight and Angela. That whole silenced stare was just hilarious.

Also, I liked the part with Michael and the children of his real estate agent. Anyone else get the subtle hint that the two might be a pair soon?

And Jim and Pam shopping for Kevin. That was great.

The one problem that I had with this episode is that an audience will only react so many time to someone crying wolf. For instance, Jan was her rude and bitter self again. That is good. But I hope the creators don’t try to play that storyline again and have Jan and Michael kiss. Too many times back and forth make it unbelievable.

Also, at the end when Pam called it a good day with allusions to her and Jim playing, that was interesting. And it’s still at a point where it is fun to hear. But, it will just seem like she’s crying wolf and it won’t get as much of a rise out of the audience.

    Am I making sense here?

maybe for once it isn’t about the audience and it’s about making the show be more like real life. maybe.

Amy P, I really hope they do become a couple. If people don’t know, the real estate lady is Steve Carell’s wife in real life so I think it would be really cute if Michael and “real estate lady” began going out on the show.

I agree with those who listed Ryan’s uncomfortable moment after the ‘cookie’ talk - one of the funniest moments yet, of course - hapless Toby being checked into the boards by Michael was priceless too - but I also liked when Angela announced to Michael that nobody cared about his birthday -and- Michael refusing to allow Toby to have a donut after Toby feigned not knowing about his birthday. THAT is the petty, attention-seeking Michael we know and love.

One of the best episodes to date, no doubt.

Maybe someone can clear this up for me.

Did Jan ask Michael when she called if there was anyone in there with him, as if she was going to say something else? Maybe about the kiss or something? Or was she just being rude about whatever she said?

    Several favorites!
Of course Ryan’s interview after the cookie incident and he was speechless. I was rolling!
The donut incident - poor Toby!
I don’t think anyone has mentioned this yet, but I loved the brief shot of Oscar doing his graceful figure skating. Blink and you missed it.
Oh yeah, and the real estate lady and Michael playing with the kids. Kind of gets your hopes up for him. He just needs a little love. ;-)
And the PSAs were such a treat! “5′8 and 3 quarters is not short, it’s average.”

Oh wow. This is a toughy. There were lots of great scenes.

I loved the look Pam gave Jim when she saw him putting Fabric Softener in the cart. I also liked the part when they were skating together. Too cute to pass.

Michael and Dwight’s weird dance was soooo hilarious!

When Kevin found out that he didn’t have skin cancer and he said “it’s negative” and then Michael started hugging him was also funny. I thought Kevin’s confused look was great!

But of course, the look on Ryan’s face after listening to Dwight and Angela’s conversation wins, hands down. That conversation WAS creepy!

“Cookie talk” was so funny…But being from the area, I loved seeing the number one AHL Hockey teams jersey (The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins) given to Michael as his birthday gift.

I’ve gotta go with Dwight serenading Michael with Billy Joel’s (or Williams Joel’s according to Dwight) “The Longest Time” on his recorder.
