Music Video Of The Office Love

Saturday, April 29th, 2006

A while back we all talked about our favorite Office relationship. This video highlights them all (including Michael and Ryan) and they do it to a killer soundtrack. They use the song called “I Believe In A Thing Called Love.” (Warning, this song will be in your head for the rest of the day. It gets me everytime.)

After watching this, I realized that there is a lot of emotion used in this wonderful show.

Steve Carell on Saturday Night Live

Saturday, April 29th, 2006

If you are able to stay up late enough (I can’t), Steve Carell will be on Saturday Night Live tonight. From the Saturday Night Live site:

NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” presents a special “Best Of” compilation featuring the first-ever collection of “Saturday TV Funhouse” shorts by acclaimed comedian Robert Smigel. The special will be hosted by “The Ambiguously Gay Duo,” Ace and Gary (voiced, as ever, by Stephen Colbert and Steve Carell) and will feature new material starring the subtly homoerotic superheroes performing an “SNL” monologue as well as interacting “live” with the current cast throughout the show.

Scranton Insider on “Drug Testing”

Friday, April 28th, 2006

As always, Dave gives us the view as a Scranton Insider:

Hello, dear readers. Before I begin this week, I just want to let you all know that no, I have never pooped a balloon. There, I said it.

The office was rocked this week by Dwight’s discovery of half a joint in the parking lot. As a “Lackawanna County” volunteer Sherif’s deputy (Scranton is in Lackawanna County), Dwight upholds his sworn duty to identify the group’s resident druggie.

Later, Kelly mentions that she had eaten nothing but a pretzel from “…Auntie Ann’s in the food court” prior to attending a party. She’s undoubtedly talking about the pretzel chain Auntie Ann’s in the Steamtown Mall. This is the Steamtown Mall’s 2nd mention this season, the first being from the episode “Take your daughter to work day” (Stanley’s daughter mentioned Jitterz, a coffee in the mall).

Michael mentions that he smoked a “clove cigarette” during an Alicia Keyes concert at the Montage Mountain Performing Arts Center. This was by far the best reference this week. Montage Mountain is a ski resort (if “resort” is the right word) that can be clearly seen from Scranton. In fact, when I lived in west Scranton I could see a haze in the lights above the slopes whenever they were making snow. In the summer, the hold concerts there, and it’s a lot of fun. I can remember when I was in college, I went to see a Lollapalooza show there. On the following night, the mountain would play host to a Michael Bolton concert. The Scranton Times (newspaper) ran a story about officials at the mountain who were worried about damage that the hippie Lollapalooza crowd would inflict upon the property. Can you guess where this is going? The Bolton crowd far outdid the alternative kids.

I didn’t recognize the building Dwight walked into towards the show’s end, but as far as I know they cast hasn’t yet filmed in Scranton. Maybe someday…

That’s it for this week. Thanks for reading, folks!

“Drug Testing”

Friday, April 28th, 2006

Image

Oh boy was it fun to have a new episode last night.

Dwight finds a joint in the parking lot so most of the show is focused on him finding out who it belongs to. (We never find out.) This made Michael a little worried because he went to an Alicia Keyes concert a couple nights earlier and may have gotten high.

But, the other part of the showed focused a lot on Jim and Pam. They played a game of “Jinx”….and continued to play each other. It was almost too much to handle when Jim reacted to Pam’s endearing, “You can tell me anything.” I don’t know about you, but Pam is a little too flirty as an engaged woman. (But obviously, Jim doesn’t do much to stop her. To him, it’s so wrong…and so right.

But the part of the show that got me laughing the most was when Jim turned the investigation around on Dwight. (pictured above) Jim accused Dwight of forgetting about his own marijuana because it is a memory-loss drug. Classic.

What part did you like?

New Episode Tonight Is Drug Testing!

Thursday, April 27th, 2006

It’s been building up for weeks and finally we get to see a new episode of The Office. Tonight’s episode is “Drug Testing.” Here is the descripton from the official NBC Site:

When Dwight (Rainn Wilson) finds half a joint in the Dunder Mifflin parking lot, he puts on his Volunteer Sheriff’s uniform and launches a full investigation — prompting Michael (Golden Globe winner Steve Carell) to ask for an unusual favor. Pam (Jenna Fischer) playfully issues a challenge to Jim (John Krasinski) and he does his best to follow through with it.

You can also click thru to the site to see another preview video.

Pam gives a little more of a scoop on her blog.

I’m so excited!

(Plus, Randy sends in this tip about Jim and Pam. Could it be true?)

The Office Game On Your Cell Phone

Tuesday, April 25th, 2006

I will be first in line to buy this game when it is released.

One of the funniest shows on television is coming to the smallest screen. NBC’s The Office, which stars Daily Show-alum Steve Carrell, is coming to mobile courtesy of Indiagames in The Office Games.

Capturing the essence of the series is paramount to Indiagames, which says it aims to bring “petty behavior and zero productivity” to mobile. Players sit inside the Dunder Mifflin offices in Scranton, PA and play classic cubicle timewasters like Wasteketball (basketball with a wastepaper basket), paper football, and table-top golf.

More info here.

How Do You Watch The Office?

Tuesday, April 25th, 2006

I love the emails that I get from readers of this blog. So many different kinds of people love watching The Office. It got me wondering, how do you watch the show? Do you gether a group of friends? Or do you choose solo? Is your whole family in to it or does your sisters just not get it. (I once watched it with a person that actually thought Michael’s jokes were funny. She didn’t realize that the rest of us were laughing at him…not his jokes.)

Personally, I’m in Las Vegas so I wait for the fine folks in the East Coast to up the show to the torrent sites for me to grab it and watch it on my computer. Usually I have the whole show grabbed and watched before it even starts here on the West Coast. But, when it comes on TV, I watch it again. (To be sure no parts were missing.) Then, when the episode is released the next day on iTunes, I grab it again so I can have a copy clean of network symbols and advertisements.

I watch it three times in two days? Maybe that is why I know all the quotes so well.

How/where/with whom do you watch it?

Sorry About The Downtime

Monday, April 24th, 2006

I didn’t realize that the site was down until one of my cousins called to let me know. My hosting company had all kinds of trouble today but it looks like they haven’t straightened it out now. (I’ll be switching companies in a month or two as this wasn’t the first time there has been problems.)

I still feel bad that the site was offline. I missed all the great comments. As an apology, let me offer to you a LifeInTheOffice.com wallpaper with all your favorite stars from The Office. You can see a sample below. I’ve put all three sizes in a zip file. You can download the Desktop Images here. (Next time you visit your public library, be sure to load this as the default desktop image to spread the word. )
