Dwight Goes To Bed With Microsoft
When I’m not writing on LITO, I’m usually over on FreeMacWare.com. There I write about good freeware that is available for the Mac.
Well, a reader just sent this video into me. It is a video from a recent Microsoft meeting that showcases their new product called “Roundtable”. It’s a camera that takes video of everyone sitting around a table so they can conference with other people. Well, if you can sit thru the first couple minutes, they have a surprise guest….Dwight K Schrute. And, the title to this post is not made up. Dwight actually does say that he goes to bed with his XBox, his collector’s edition of Windows 95, and a 8 x 10 glossy photo of Bill Gates. He’s pretty funny in this clip.
Well, we know that Jim is a Powerbook user, so this gives us one more reason to like him more than Dwight.

The audience didn’t seem to know Dwight.

If we had video camera confrencing where I worked, all I would do is show off my mad martial arts skills too.
…and pick my nose.

Wow, even with a trained professional comic actor and all the high-tech assistance in the world, work meetings are still painfully boring and unfunny. I feel better now about my job.

Cool seeing Dwight’s character, but like Scott said the audience just seemed to be laughing for fit in.
Still a cool little surprise.

Yeah, these conferences are painful. Microsoft needs to try a different approach. Their attempt at humor and relatability to a human audience is poorly done. It’s like watching robots and kitchen appliances trying to get a laugh out of each other. It’s very awkward.

More Proof that dorks/jerks (Dwight) use Microsoft and cool kids (Jim) use Apple…

Wow, that was pretty painful to watch, even though I think Dwight is funny.

Microsoft UK have a much better sense of humour in my opinion. See the Ricky Gervais videos that he did for them
