Webisode 3 Is Up, Kind Of

Well, it looks like The Office Webisode 3 is up. Well, it’s supposed to be up. Each time I try to play it, it will show me the commercial and then it will give me an error that it can’t find the webisode.

Either way, it looks like they are going to question Meredith next. The page is here. I’m sure it will work eventually and when it does, leave a comment on what you liked about it. I’ll do the same.

The link worked for me. I will probably be hated for saying this, but I thought this week’s webisode was a little bit flat. I cannot wait until they interview Stanley.

Angela is just getting worse and worse. (Her character, not the quality of the actor.)

I personally cannot wait for Dwight’s interrogation.

I agree. This webisode was disappointing. I didn’t laugh at all.

I thought it was weak, like they shot it in one take. Angela and Kevin were actually awesome, I thought, but overall I was disappointed. I actually have a hard time with Meredith overall (the character, not the actress). The alcoholic bit isn’t that funny to me.

How many time must a man press Refresh, before you can call him a man?

    I can’t get it to work either. I’m sad…

It worked for me in Firefox but not Internet Explorer. (Stupid IE)

Anyway, I thought it was a bit cheesy or contrived too. It was a little better when I watched it the second time around. I caught a few more of the jokes. I, like The_Other_Bri, also don’t find Meredith funny at all. I’m sure other webisodes will be better than this one. Dwight’s interview will be good. Also, I get a kick out of Creed sometimes.

It finally worked in Safari. Thank God for my Mac.

    Meh. Not that funny.

Finally, I was able to see it too. They must have fixed it.

The problem with these episodes is that they are going to play off the characteristics that are already set from the real episodes only. There is just no time to bring out any new characteristics.

I’d love to see them bump it up to 5 minutes so there’s a bit more to watch each time.

B-O-R-I-N-G. Do something funny. These actors aren’t creating humor but rather just doing boring scenes.

This webisode answered the question I had while watching old episodes yesterday. “The Alliance” says Meredith has two kids, but “The Injury” says she has one. I thought maybe the writers messed up or retconned her history. Maybe they did mess up. But now it’s fixed.

This webisode was like the first time that Meredith has seemed like anything more than a background character. Half her lines were about drinking (nothing new), but the other half were about what she would do with 3000 dollars, and about how she would never harm her kid. She almost had a personality beyond “drunk mom.”

Does anyone else actually feel uncomfortable during the show’s more awkward moments (like when Roy looks like he’s going to fight Jim at the end of “The Alliance”)? Before watching this webisode, I realized that I felt unsettled with the focus being on Meredith. Most of what we learn about her seems to be from other people. She usually just mutters awkwardly or speaks in response to other people. I realized that if questioned, she might have to speak up and say something more meaningful, and I was uncomfortable with her being put in a new role, or receiving so much attention. Then I watched it, and those moments where she does speak up and say things like “I would never do that to my kid”, those moments where she seems like a normal person, really DO make me uncomfortable. Anyone know why?

I’ve been having trouble getting the webisodes to work in Firefox 1.5. So I’ve been viewing them in IE. (Then I go into my cache and save the FLV files for future viewing!) But yeah, the NBC site is kinda code-heavy and does cause a lot of viewing problems.

The problem with them being only 3 minutes is that 30 seconds of it is going to be taken up with exposition - Angela in Episode 2 and Oscar in Episode 3 both have to explain that they’re trying to find $3000 to balance the books.

And really, what else is the plot? So far it’s been

    - We’re looking for money
    - Let’s ask person X
    - Nope, they didn’t take it.

I liked the joke about Kevin thinking the Vance refrigeration credit card was to buy refirgerators….

Maybe the later ones will be better, when they actually catch the person who did it. And Dwight will of course rock, as is his tradition.
