Scranton Insider on Gay Witch Hunt

Saturday, September 23, 2006

As always, Dave gives us the view as a Scranton Insider:

Woo, it’s good to be back! More importantly, it’s great to have our show back on the air. Don’t you agree? Let’s get to it, shall we.

At the very beginning, when Roy brought Pam her lunch, I’m pretty sure I saw a University of Scranton flag behind Pam. Odd, as I thought she went to Marywood University (as did yours truly), which is the other university in Scranton. Marywood and the U of S are on opposite ends of town, and an even deeper divide exists between the two schools. Marywood students do NOT go to U bars (we call it “The U” in Scranton) and vice versa. It’s an unwritten rule that makes the flag’s presence at Marywood alum Pam’s desk puzzling. The Scranton Chamber of Commerce cup still holds pens on her desk as it has done in previous seasons.

And you know what, people? That was it! No other Scranton references in this week’s episode. But I won’t hold that against the writers.

See you next week!

I was thinking that maybe Pam was taking art classes at the University of Scranton and maybe that’s why she has the flag up. I don’t know, you’re probably right and it’s just a continuity gaffe.

  2. Miles says:

    Here’s some wild speculation…

Perhaps Pam went to Marywood in her youth, but is now taking Art classes att U of S.

  3. Paul says:

I knew some Marywood girls back in the day. Pam doesn’t strike me as a Marywood girl. Dave, you know what I’m talking about, eh, buddy? nudge, nudge, wink, wink.

  4. Dave O. says:

Wilkes is such a superior school to both Marywood or Univ. of Scranton. Hell, I would rather go to East Stroudsburg University than all three of those…oh, wait a second….I did go to ESU. I am a loser.

I also went to Lehigh though. I am not a loser afterall.

  5. Dan says:

Whoa,,where is the love…ESU grad too…now if you said Bloomsburg..then you would have something…

  6. ML says:

Marywood is definitely the better art school! It could be a little inside joke.

  7. John Webster says:

East Stroudsburg University…me too. When I went there they sold t-shirts in their bookstore with “East Stroudsburg University, Cheapest Resort in the Poconos” on ‘em.

  8. Christian says:

Wilkes University…Take charge of your future…WILKES!
