Rashida Jones Minds The Gap

Tuesday, October 31st, 2006

Image

I can’t remember where I saw this, but I bookmarked it a while ago. (If one of you sent it in, sorry I can’t remember who it was to give credit.)

Anyway, it is an old GAP commercial. If you can handle the ridiculous dancing of that blond guy, then you’ll see Rashida Jones (Karen) at the 13 second mark. Doesn’t this get you excited for Christmas?

An Hour Long Episode Coming

Tuesday, October 31st, 2006

Newsday.com has posted an article about how iTunes saved The Office and kept it on the air. We’ve talked about this before. But the great part of the article was toward the end.

Ever since then, “The Office” has paid almost as much attention to iTunes as to NBC. For example, “because people are watching more than once, it’s become one more reason for us to to be very careful to include subtle things as well as broad physical stuff,” Lieberstein says. The iTunes effect hasn’t hurt in attracting big-name directors either; Harold Ramis will direct an hour-long episode to air around Christmas, while “Lost’s” J.J. Abrams is on board for a February one.

NBC’s Bromstead says of “The Office,” “it’s a very important asset to us as a studio, so … even if doesn’t turn into a traditional network hit, or a blockbuster, we’ll accept that as well.”

How exciting! We’ll be getting a super-sized episode this month and an hour long episode next month. I think this month will be the merging of the branches and the hour long episode will be the wedding for Michael and Carol.

No Quote Confessionals

Tuesday, October 31st, 2006

Alright, the warning for “no quote day” was posted yesterday, and now the day is upon us.

Try your hardest to not quote any movies or TV Shows today. When If we fail, be sure to quote

  1. The Quote
  2. The movie or TV show
  3. The time of day that it happened.

If you make it past 5:00PM, you officially succeed.

Vote For “Initiation” Haiku Winner

Monday, October 30th, 2006

Well, there’s been plenty of time to enter the last haiku/limerick contest so it’s time to vote. Here are my favorite.

1) Dwight tried to initiate Ryan
And we know just how hard he was tryin’
But “planting his seed”
That’s more than we need
I just hope to god he was lyin’.

2)This episode, it sure was dandy.
Michael ate pretzels and candy
Pam kept his log
(will it go on her blog?)
And the squeaky chair ended on Andy.

3)The temp was tested by A.R.M.
He did well until threatened by harm
Then he was like, ‘Dwight!
I’m not going to fight!
Plus you have a really weird farm.’

PS DwightK, you rock with these limericks. It was a good start for everyone. I think I’ll start next week’s nearer to the episode airing so that it’s still fresh in our minds.

Which is your favorite for Initiaton?

Tomorrow Is No Quote Day

Monday, October 30th, 2006

My wife constantly reminds me how often I sound like Michael Scott. Yesterday, I said “Thank you very much sir”, three times. The same way that Michael says it in the very first episode. I know that a lot of you quote the show too.

So, since many of us will be working tomorrow and just waiting for the Halloween fun to begin, let’s play a game to pass the day. Tomorrow is “No Quote Day” across the LITO world. The rules are simple, you can’t quote any show or movie during the whole day.

Tomorrow I’ll put up an official confessional post. If you do use a quote from a movie or a TV show then come back to that LITO post and leave a comment on:

1)The Quote
2)Where the quote is from
3)What time you said the quote

My guess is that I won’t be able to last until after lunch and it will surely be a quote from The Office. If you make it past 5:00 PM, you will be deemed a winner.

Sound like fun? Who’s in?

The Many Faces Of Jim

Monday, October 30th, 2006

Here’s a fun video that Karen would dislike, but many of you would dig. It’s Jim, and his “often imitated but never duplicated” looks.

A Couple Clips For The Weekend

Saturday, October 28th, 2006

Angela Kinsey (Angela) was recently on the Megan Mullally Show. Below is the video clip. I have to admit that I didn’t get all the way thru the clip even though I usually like Angela interviews. I’ve never seen the Megan Mullally show, though I remember her from Will and Grace. But, for some reason I’m not able to watch her as host very long. I was getting flashbacks of when my sister would watch The Ricki Lake Show and I was younger and couldn’t be in charge of the remote.

I really enjoyed this second clip of Steve Carell and Rainn Wilson on Access Hollywood. Here’s what we learn. Steve likes to choke people and Rainn wants eggs thrown at him. (I really hope he doesn’t regret making that joke the next time he’s walking thru LA.)

And why does Michael Scott go to Jamaica? Honeymoon perhaps?

Emails From The Contact Form

Friday, October 27th, 2006

My apologies to folks that have sent a message thru the contact form and not seen a response from me. I get about 5 or 6 a day so I thought I was returning them all. But, I just looked in my SPAM folder and found 126 emails in there from LITO readers in the last few weeks. I’ll try to get back on the ones that need replies. And here are a couple things that people mentioned.

  • Simon reminded me that Slither was released on DVD last Tuesday. This is the horror film that Jenna Fischer was in and it was direced by her husband.
  • Becca let me know that she started a new site called TheOfficeVids.com. I’ve posted a couple of her videos here on LITO and she does good work. If you’re looking for Office videos, or you have one to submit, head on over there.

I hope no one was offended. I have fun with the emails that come in and I always try to respond. I’ll try to check the spam folder more often.

Photos From The Set Of The Office

Friday, October 27th, 2006

TVSquad.com has just posted a whole group of photos from the set of The Office. One of interest was the chart to show the sales of the team. (pictured below) Stanley works too hard to be in third place.

Take a look at the rest and let us know if you find anything of interest.

The Office Outside Of LITO (Updatedx2)

Friday, October 27th, 2006

While I’m driving around in my truck, I’m usually listening to ESPNRadio on XM. It’s always entertaining because it’s mostly sports, and a little pop culture. Well, for the last three days, I’ve heard Dan Patrick mention The Office on his show. The first time he was proclaiming that Dwight K Schrute could be one of the best sitcom characters of all time.

The second time, he was talking to Chris Fowler, who would be broadcasting a college football game later that day on ESPN. Dan Patrick said, ” Well, I have to be honest with you. I won’t be watching the game tonight. Not with The Office on.”

Dan Patrick straight sold out his own network to watch The Office.

As you can imagine, I thought it was pretty cool to hear about The Office on The Dan Patrick Show. (I wrote Dan an email to drop by LITO.)

My question is, do you ever hear people talking about The Office in your day to day life? All of my extended family are fans so they always want to ask me questions about the show when I talk with them. None of the guys people in my company watch the show so I don’t get to make Office jokes with them. (My Michael Scott impersonations never go over well in our video conferences.)

How prevalent is The Office in your day to day doings?

Update:
I thought it would be interesting to show you guys the GeoMap Overlay of the visitors to the site in the last month. The bigger the circle, the more the visitors. The Office is obviously quite popular in the Pennsylvania area and in LA. I think that circle toward the bottom is Houston, TX. But, that is just a guess.

Update2:
There have been a few readers to request for the international map. So let it be written, so let it be done.
