Jenna in EW, John on Props

Here are two more items of note to finish off your work week.

1) Jenna was featured in this week’s edition of Entertainment Weekly. A kind soul on Live Journal has already posted the article and the pictures. Read it here.

2) I always look forward to the posts of John the prop guy. In fact, when I get the time, I am going to sign up I just signed up for myspace just so I can leave a “thank you” comment for him.

He recently put up his post for Grief Counseling:

The funeral involved a burning which is a special effects and prop combination. We made twelve coffins and tweleve boxes. The boxes were filled with shredded paper and treated with flame retardant so the fire wouldn’t get to out of control. I think we burned 4 boxes.

This is a scene where the combination of the Pam well-delivered upbeat speech and Michael’s very real emotional response proved rather moving as we were filming it. I didn’t think the episode was going to go that way, but again that’s what the show does best. Rainn and Jenna learned two songs. I thought the choice of using “On the Wings of Love” was a good one because it meant alot more when it was performed than the other one. I’m sure the other one will be release some where, so look for it. Rainn actually played the recorder, and I thought Jenna’s impromptu, casual, yet sincere singing of it was right on the money for Pam. I was offstage manning a fire extinguisher, and Rainn walked out of shot and grabbed it and brought it in and dusted the fire. He came up with that on the spot and of course, perfect for Dwight.
