John On The Initiation Props
Last night I was wondering how they filmed the phone scene with Jim and Pam. I wondered if they were just reading from a script or if they were actually talking to each other on the phone so the timing was right. Luckily, John The Prop Guy talked about it today in his blog post.
Alot of times TV shows will only film one end of a phone conversation at a time. We had the luxury of shooting both sides of Pam and Jim’s conversation simultaneuously. I was in Stamford working the set with Jim, so I had already seen his performance. I told him right when the scene was over, that the way he handled the awkward yet painfully familiar moments was excellent. Tonight was the first time I saw what Pam was doing on the other end, and it was equally as perfect. The amazing thing about the Jim and Pam stuff is that it reads very underwelming, but when the actors get a hold of it, it really comes to life on a lot different levels. That’s a pretty accurate definition of good acting. I’ll have to pay Jenna the same compliment I paid to Jim when were back on set on Monday.
It’s like he read my mind.
He has some other cool prop info in his post but still no word on the brand of Jim’s bag.

Great site!
I’m wondering if anybody caught the title and artist of the song that was playing in the car when Dwight and Ryan were heading to the beet farm. Thanks! soilhead@yahoo.com
