Haikus Are Laid To Rest

After starting strong, the haiku contest participation has dwindled so today we lay them to rest. We can’t help but notice that the participants were few when he died. But of course, we all know, that doesn’t mean Mr. Haiku was forgotten because I’m sure the other 7,000 daily readers cared for him very much. He will not be forgotten.

Amen.

    You will not be forgotten.

    7,000 daily? Nice!

    goodbye Haiku Poem
your loss will be forever missed
    rest in haiku peace

    5-7-5 right?

  3. Bob says:

I didn’t participate in the haiku contests because I have no “ear” for 5-7-5 poetry. But, I sure enjoyed reading the entries. “The Office” not only attracts “affluent” viewers, but poetic ones, too.

Don’t bury him yet! I need a weekly creative outlet! I always enjoyed what stuck in the minds of others from each episode…

  5. Scott says:

    Haikus are like Dwight
    Short poems of inconsequence
    But they make my day

  6. Meg says:

So I skipped a week–don’t kill the contest! Was a winner even declared from the last contest?

Maybe the limerick talk scared away the haiku poets.

    I’m so bummed.

  7. Christy says:

I am playing the recorder in spirit …

  8. Post-it Thief says:

I’ll miss them. :( But it’s a good grief. Just ask Charlie Brown.

  9. Meredith says:

I participated in one, but i never knew who ended up winning, or what they were ever used for…

    I thought it was cool.

Hey, Brian! I have never haikued, but I like the sound of haikuers haikuing. Instead of a contest, maybe you should just have a “haiku corner,” where poets can submit their musings about each “Office” episode. They were fun to read!

  11. Brian Stucki says:

Bob, that is a good idea.

Glad to see some folks out there really enjoyed the haiku contests. I’ve certainly enjoyed reading them. I’m just always so surprised that there are 7,000 visitors each day but the participation (and comments in general) are so low.

Though, looking at the comments above me, it’s kind of a who’s-who of the LITO commentors. You all leave great comments…I just wish more people would get involved because community is so much a part of this show for me.

    I liked the haikus
    Even though I only won
    with a limmerick

  13. Shaun says:

The real question is… Can a Haiku really ever die?

  14. Michael says:

I never have anything worthy to contribute.
