“The Merger”
Season 3 Episode 8
The Scranton branch has finally absorbed the Stamford branch and this episode shows the merger. Perhaps it would be best to give a character rundown.
Michael was very excited to have his family growing. He greeted the new gang like royalty offering gift bags and food. He created an incredible video which he called Lazy Scranton. (The screenshot is from Jim’s flashback of “The Scranton Witch Product.”)
In true Michael style though, his caring ended up being quite insensitive. It eventually forced The Chip Guy to quit…then be fired.
We have all been looking forward to the first meeting of Andy and Dwight and I’ll be the first to say that we were not disappointed. It was a constant battle of power between the two. (Though Jim later became the real one in charge.)
The episode ended with Dwight and Andy arguing on their way to the parking lot. I think this could have been one of my favorite scenes of all time.
Speaking of the parking lot, Andy had an incredible entrance. I think it deserves a special audio clip.
Once again, Creed took his 15 seconds of camera time and ran with it. When a co-worker was using a breast pump, Ryan said that it was distracting. And Creed’s Creep-o-Meter ran at an all time high when he replied, “Ditto that my brother.”
Finally, the most obvious story line was Pam, Karen and Jim. It started out nice and friendly, but I don’t think Pam was expecting that Jim and Karen are a thing. As soon as she realized it, I think she became a lot bummed and a little jealous. (As pictured below when she gave Karen a “look down.” How come girls do that?)
I felt bad for Pam. She was expecting her old buddy back. But I think that Jim was more hurt than any of us were expecting. I think he still considered Pam a good friend, but I think he still felt quite rejected.
Personally, I’m hoping that Jim and Karen continue to be together. She’s cool and Jim needs a good relationship. I don’t think Pam would be able to offer that even if Karen wasn’t around. It seems like she’s still not quite sure what she wants and that would mean more dangling for Jim. (I’ll do a post a little later to see where most of you fall in the love triangle.)
Finally, one more thing that has to be mentioned. I was not impressed with the product placement at all. The Staples shredder and the Hooters reference was almost offensive to my intelligence. I felt patronized. To me, it’s just not worth selling out for the money. I look at the big picture. These shows are going to be classics. I think we’ll be watching these episodes for years to come the same way that we watch Seinfeld and The Cosby Show. I think that ten years from now, the producers will regret selling out a part of the show for a one time payment. I know we’ve had some product placement in the past, but these two references were over the line for me.

I usually go dancing on Thursday nights and just TiVo the Office, but I’m skipping dancing tonight because I’m so excited about tonight’s episode! I can’t figure out if I’m dorky, obsessed, or a little of both.
November 16th, 2006 17:07
Nothing is going to stop me from tonight’s episode. I usually have Tivo on the job as well, but tonight I’ll be watching LIVE. …and then watching it a second time on Tivo immediately following. What was that about obsessed?
November 16th, 2006 17:08
Adam,
Maybe you’re a heavy-metal, ass-kicking, dancing dork!!
November 16th, 2006 17:37
JVB, we also TIVO and watch it again right after to catch all the background activity..it will be even more so to see the new set design (where will the new employees be sitting?)…just a guess for tonight’s show..I think Jim will take Karen out for lunch to show her the town and that will upset Pam…this is just a guess..can’t wait for tonight! Love to all-Mindy
November 16th, 2006 19:25
i have three major thoughts on this hilarious episode
1. Lazy Scranton was just hilarious i cant believe Michael made that
2. The whole pam jim thing was so weird cause now its pam going after jim and hes the one thats taken
3. I loved the end where Andy and Dwight were arguing i hope thats setting up a humorous relationship
cant wait for hour long episode
November 16th, 2006 19:27
Well, this episode was hilarious. Really, really funny. But also sad…how can Jim being “seeing” Karen now? My heart broke when he said that. But so many funny scenes…Creed’s “ditto that, brother” about the breat pump, the picture of the breast on his desktop, Andy and Dwight’s showdown on the elevator, the “slave” comment, Lazy Scranton, Ryan taking Jim’s desk, Kelly telling Jim what was new with her, etc. But that was awkward when the chip guy quit/got fired.
November 16th, 2006 19:29
A.M. - this totally broke my heart too
But I have to say, possibly the most quotable episode thus far this season. I don’t remember the last time I laughed out loud so many times!
November 16th, 2006 19:41
That’s true, it was very quotable, but I also thought Grief Counseling was very quotable too. Although I think the back to back scene with Creed and then Stanley and the black power thing had me laughing harder than any other episode this season.
November 16th, 2006 19:45
Once again, Creed’s one liner steals the show!! That man absolutely rocks in small doses.
Jim’s looking at Diwgt hair/forehead had to be a close second.
VERY Funny episode.
“almost” makes up for Jaren…. almost.
November 16th, 2006 19:52
Can I just say, “aaaaaagggghhh!” My freakin’ cable went out at 7:30 tonight and didn’t come back until 9:00. I came in at the scene where Pam was asking Jim if he wanted to get a coffee sometime.
So NOT happy with Jim for “seeing someone” and with Pam for not speaking up!
Pretty sure DVR didn’t get it all, so will have to watch it on demand or itunes.
Groan.
November 16th, 2006 21:28
I think every episode has to have Dwight say “snakes,” I love how Rainn Wilson says it. In that name calling scene on the elevator I was rooting for Dwight! My how our loyalties show when we are threatened by newbies.
November 16th, 2006 21:38
The episode was actually pretty funny, which was surprising for this third season. I feel like we’re getting more into the swing of things. I knew it would be hard to top season two, but thus far they have been big flops for me.
I also HATE Andy. I just do not think he is funny. We have a weird kiss up already, his name is Dwight. Lose Andy. Now.
Also, was anyone else cracked up by Phyllis? I love her snippy comment to Karen, and was pretty depressed that they made up. I hope Pam ups her cattiness like we saw from “The Fire” and “Booze Cruise.”
November 16th, 2006 21:40
My favorite line of the night went to Andy. “I’m always thinking one step ahead. Like a carpenter… building stairs.” That had me cracking up.
Jenna Fischer is breaking my heart with some of her acting. She looked like she was about to break down and cry after Jim said that he was seeing someone.
November 16th, 2006 22:04
I like how Michael said ‘I’ll show you to where all the slaves work… not…’ and how he also said to Karen…”You look exotic… Was your dad a G.I.?” Plus that one line mentioned earlier Andy, “I’m always thinking one step ahead. Like a carpenter… building stairs.”
Such a packed Office episode!!!
November 16th, 2006 22:52
A good episode overall, but how sad for Jim and Pam
I can’t understand why Jim and Karen are “together” when just last episode Jim wasn’t exactly encouraging about her possible transfer to Scranton — and, Karen said she didn’t think Jim was that into her. What happened to our poor Jim? I thought the way he made light of his time with Pam in the breakroom (when Michael interrupted) was heartbreaking.
November 16th, 2006 23:24
i liked tonights episode but it also may have made a tear roll down my eye. poor pam i mean she left her fiancee after being together for like ten years for this? i hope she’ll finally break and say something to him. maybe febuary sweeps.
also, love andy, can’t wait to see mroe of him and michael. and and the scene between stanley and that new coworker, amazing.
November 17th, 2006 00:03
Darn you, Halpert!
And I liked Tony!
November 17th, 2006 00:29
Ryan’s comment after he and Jim had that awkward moment over the desk really surprised me. It was a side of Ryan I’d never seen (or noticed) before. We-eird.
November 17th, 2006 01:14
NOOoooo… Pam.. Jim… It’s never going to happen, is it?
Freakin’ Karen.
November 17th, 2006 05:03
My words exactly Bland!!! I liked Tony too! And I hate Jim right now!! I read somewhere that Toby and Karen should get together- I agree as this would leave Jim and Pam to get together!!!
November 17th, 2006 05:54
Great Episode but I’m feeling sorry for Pam.
And is Oscar no longer on the show ? Can someone please answer that.
November 17th, 2006 06:02
andy/dwight was hilarious also like lazy scranton!
November 17th, 2006 06:26
My favorite line was by Ryan: “Yeah Jim’s a nice guy. That’s why I got his desk”.
My heart is just breaking for Pam. I can’t bring myself to watch this episode again.
November 17th, 2006 06:27
I dont know, but Andy was at Oscar’s desk. Totally weird.
just remember people…”Jim is a nice guy…that is why [Ryan] got the desk”
Who knew Ryan was like that!!!!!!
November 17th, 2006 06:29
I thought Oscar was on a three month paid vacation thanks to Michael outing him to the whole office.
November 17th, 2006 06:38
Dave O- I know!! I was watching with my friends and was like, “Awww…why is Ryan being a butthead!?”
I wish Jim wouldn’t be so weird. I understand he was rejected twice, I don’t blame him for not wanting to get too close. On the other hand though, doesn’t he realize she wasn’t exactly available when he put his heart on the line?? That’s a risk he took! Hello…she was engaged for goodness sake. Did he think she would just drop everything? And furthermore, he should recognize that she actually did drop everything; a little late but she did. Now she’s making an effort and he’s being retarded. It’s hard to watch.
And what I hate even more is that I actually like Karen.
Side note- funniest part in the whole show for me was the Creed moment with the breast feeding woman. I was practically snorting I was laughing so hard.
November 17th, 2006 06:41
Tim- Oscar took an extended leave. I think he said he was going to go travel with his partner for a few months or something. If I remember correctly we should expect to see him later in the season. I think it was in or shortly after the episode where Michael outs him to the office crew about being gay.
Anyone feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.
November 17th, 2006 06:53
our whole town lost power except for my block- I was so happy =) jaren is killing me! I want him to move on but it still hurts to see him happy w/ someone else. I totally felt for pam- I think every girl has been there before. overall- hillarious! lazy scranton = AMAZING. loved this episode!
November 17th, 2006 06:55
8:45…the phone rings….have to stop snort-laughing long enough to answer..who could be calling at such a bad time..wait..hast to be my brother as all I can hear is snort-laughing on the other end of the line…how freakin awesome was the Lazy Scranton bit? Phone call lasted exactly 1:55 seconds…we both hang up as the show comes back after commercial..awesomely fast as a black pepper snake.
November 17th, 2006 06:56
Janie, you are right. The very end of the episode where Michael outed Oscar of being gay, Oscar was about to quit but Jan offered him three months of PAID leave. He and his partner Gil (I think that’s his name) are going to travel and be ‘happy’ together. Hah!
I liked this episode a lot. I didn’t really think the big guy fit in, so I was OK with him leaving so soon. I also don’t know if they breast pump lady will fit in, but I do like the other black guy. Stanley not going along with his “brothers have to stick together” gesture was hilarious!
I like Jim and Pam. I like Jim and Karen. Is it legal in CT state to have two wives?
November 17th, 2006 06:56
or maybe it was a mongooose?
November 17th, 2006 07:13
Now I’m Looking forward to a huge Pam confession!
November 17th, 2006 08:16
I was kind of bummed the way Jim acted towards Pam. It was as if the phone conversation from a few weeks back never happened at all.
I have really disliked Andy and felt like he really didn’t have a place in the show up until now. This was his best performance yet, and he found a really fun niche for the show. I loved it when he told Angela that he really like her smile and put a kitten on his desktop.
Creed is getting a little too wierd. Up until now his antics were a little secret between him and the audience, but taking pictures of another co-workers boob is far and beyond unbeliveable.
Overall it was a really good show!
November 17th, 2006 08:23
Too many plot holes…..to name just one, Dunder Mifflin wouldn’t have a Staples-branded paper shredder. I know this is basically a Staples commercial built in to the show, but it wouldn’t happen. Very funny though!
November 17th, 2006 08:27
Loved the episode. Returning to the greatness of season 2. I think it’s good that Jim is not falling all over Pam. There is nothing more likely to bring Jim and Pam together, eventually than, Jim showing attention to someone else and more importantly someone paying attention to him. Jim is obviously still hung up on Pam, hence, another awkward parking lot moment between the 2. If they ever do confess their feelings for one another and make a go of it, I hope it begins in the parking lot.
November 17th, 2006 08:45
I also HATE Andy. I just do not think he is funny. We have a weird kiss up already, his name is Dwight. Lose Andy. Now.
AMEN!
I CAN’T stand him, either. I think he’s grating - and not funny at all. I lost it when he started mocking Jim about Scranton. Then I knew there was no hope for that person. I’m sooooo rooting for Dwight to win out.
Wait…I actually said I’m rooting for Dwight. Wow.
I thought the episode was good. The Jim/Pam tension was very difficult to watch. I like Karen, too, which is a problem. But I think there’s something between Jim and Pam that just isn’t there with Jim and Karen…a chemistry that’s just missing.
The new people have the potential to add a different dynamic to the office (with one exception, see above). It’s going to be interesting.
November 17th, 2006 09:29
I’m looking forward to Andy wearing a fake head on halloween next year!!
November 17th, 2006 09:59
NBC posted a transcript of the chat w/Jenna F. She said that Oscar took a leave to work on a show on Comedy Central, but he will be back.
November 17th, 2006 10:02
i really enjoyed this episode. my favorite part would have to be when dwight and andy were trying to one-up each other while leaving the office. it was like watching two fourth graders trying to one-up each other… who both end up being friends with the lunch lady because they don’t have any other friends…
as for the pam-jim-karen thing, i’m still hoping for pam and jim but karen i’m starting to warm up to karen too. i’m sure the writers are going to milk this for all its worth. and what was up with kevin and the staples salad?
November 17th, 2006 10:33
Am I the only person in the entire freaking world who thinks that Staples promo is the most egregious case of jumping the shark in this millenium? The Office just sold its soul for a handful of beans.
Where are your priorities, people!
November 17th, 2006 11:17
Not sure if i’m alone here based on all the other comments, but i really like Andy. He’s like a mini Michael. I thought one of the funniest parts of the whole show was him showing Angela his new desktop, i mean come on, that was hilarious.
November 17th, 2006 11:21
I love Andy too! He was awesome last night.
November 17th, 2006 11:37
Well, i just heard that the Staples promo part isn’t in the Itunes version of the episode at ALL… so whatever.
I, personally LOVE Andy! I think he’s hilarious… the blow-up mattress scene, and the “TUNA! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!” scene were HILARIOUS to me… but i can see why you wouldn’t like him. He makes Dwight try way too hard when he doesn’t even need to. I just love the sides of people he seems to bring out… the Angela scene was hilarious as well. I’m looking forward to his role in the show.
November 17th, 2006 11:42
The product placement in this show is shameless. The guy who was so enthused about shredding and how the shredder he was using would shred ANYTHING? Did anyone else notice in the very next commercial break an advertisement for the EXACT SAME SHREDDER? Is Office Depot writing the scripts now? I’m done with this show. Unfunny shash.
November 17th, 2006 11:48
I don’t mind some product placements, like Michael’s iPod Christmas gift. That actually made the show even more realistically funny to me. But the producers DO need to be reminded about being subtle, and I’m sending them a message. If they get enough “reminders,” maybe the message will get through to them.
November 17th, 2006 12:08
Just a thought…..maybe the “someone” Jim is seeing now isn’t Karen! Just because he was talking to her right before he told Pam that doesn’t mean that Karen’s “the one”!
November 17th, 2006 12:40
I totally forgot about the Andy/Angela scene. That was great!!
November 17th, 2006 12:59
No, i’m pretty sure it is Karen since he did agree to go get a drink with her and not Pam… it’s pretty obvious. Who else would it be? They brought Karen to be the obstacle between Jim and Pam… Just my take
November 17th, 2006 13:25
If you watched ‘30 Rock’ after ‘The Office,’ you’d see that the new, shall we say, “aggressive” product placement is an NBC-wide policy decision and almost certainly out of the hands of an individual show’s producers. At least they’re taking care to keep it funny. (”Where’d you get that salad?” “Staples.”)
November 17th, 2006 13:26
Here’s my thinking on the ‘Jamaren’ thing (That’s Jim Pam Karen mashed together in that new trendy name mashing style)
This is a TV show and that means things CAN’T just happen, otherwise you’d have nothing for the next episode. We’ve been watching it go on with Jim and Pam for 2.5 seasons already. That’s what the story is about: Jim and Pam.
Writers have to give you some of what you want so you’ll watch the show, but because of the nature of the beast they can’t give you everything you want to see…(They can do that in movies because they’re a one shot-2hr thing and they’re done.)
So the mere fact that Jim and Karen are now suddenly together..BOOM! just like that! Together! means to me that it’s really just a non-issue, and was setup just to fuel more episodes of the romantic strife between Jim and Pam.
Now having said that…The Office is not your predictable TV show and they may throw us all a curve ball on this. But in my opinion…when you get right down to it money is what’s driving the show. Ratings equals money. Happy viewers equals ratings. Now I can’t speak for everyone, but I know I won’t be a happy viewer if Jim and Pam don’t get together. It may not be all that soon, and I’m sure twists will abound to keep us all watching, but it’ll happen.
Therefore, in my opinion: JAM forever!
November 17th, 2006 13:38
The Staples thing was slightly ammoying, but we knew it was coming. They had to pay for the supersized episode somehow. Plus, we all know they would be scenes cut and posted later as deleted clips, if it were just a regular shredder. And 30 Rock totally made up for it.
November 17th, 2006 13:41
Greg, great comment.
November 17th, 2006 13:43
Ryan’s been something of a jerk from the beginning…remember in “Office Olympics” when he threw away his medal when Pam was watching? I wasn’t surprised about the desk thing, although I don’t get why he’d want that desk so badly when there was one right next to it that was open.
November 17th, 2006 14:30
right on greg! jaren is just a stop over on the way to jam town.
pam is still finding out who she is as a single person i like seeing more of that. plus i like karen but her and jim just don’t have the same chemistry as jim and pam. plus lke greg said it’s about keeping people watching and people love watching the getting together more than the being together. but i’m still hoping for jim and pam together by the end of the season because it will get really hard to watch if things stay weird with them. i like the show so much for the charm they have together.
November 17th, 2006 14:33
yes, I think Ryan has been a real vague character all along… all this I hate Kelly inuendo’s we’ve been getting, but then in his talking heads half the time he’s hinting that he likes her back, and the other half of the time he’s bashing her… It’s very real-life, but i just don’t like his character. He’s turning out to be cold. And taking Jim’s desk? Was that necessary? He doesn’t LIKE Dwight, so why would he WANT to sit there for any particular reason… know what i mean…
November 17th, 2006 15:39
I really liked the episode, but it was little too awkward.
November 17th, 2006 16:01
My heart sunk when I saw Jim treat Pam so cooly.
I know he was hurt but she did loose herself from Roy. He had to know it had to do with him! When he kissed her last spring she said she had wanted to “do that too”.
Do you think his sub conscience wanted to hurt her for hurting him?
I think what will happen is that in time Karen won’t have Pams characteristics that he loved and he will begin to warm up to Pam again. Especially now that he is back in Scranton and will see her everyday. Oh please please writers…these people (ok ok they’re fictional) were meant for each other and need to grow old together!
November 17th, 2006 17:00
All Jim said was that he’s seeing someone now. We don’t know for sure that it’s Karen, or even that he’s telling the truth.
And if the breast-pumping woman bothered you (as she did me), find the British Office special in which the new co-worker goes into GRAPHIC detail about how she got pregnant.
November 17th, 2006 20:37
Chili, you might be right about Jim possibly improving the truth a bit…..as I’ve been thinking about it more, I’m wondering if Jim told Pam he was seeing someone to avoid the pain/akwardness of dealing with the status of their friendship. Going out for a drink with Karen doesn’t necessarily mean Jim and Karen are together, because just last episode Karen didn’t think Jim was particularly interested in her. Does anyone else think it’s possible that Jim lied about his availability? He also seemed either disappointed with himself or with what happened when he got back into his car. This idea about Jim may not be probable, but what do you all think?
November 18th, 2006 01:34
i agree with the comment that jim will see that karen isn’t ‘pam’. karen isn’t as funny or as fun. it seems like she’s trying to be to please jim. i can see karen getting pretty tired of the whole scene soon and leaving scranton. she’ll probably call jim on the fact that he has feelings for pam.
best scene: jim and dwight’s eye line scene. hilarious!
November 18th, 2006 03:22
i forgot all about kelly! i thought it was hilarious when jim had to ask, “so… what’s up with you?” and she actually answered, “i just told you.” after talking about tom and katie, brad and angelina.
ryan was a real jerk last night (at least michael’s all about the people). i hope they give him a redeeming quality soon. coz if they don’t, all he’ll be left with is a good haircut.
November 18th, 2006 07:38
It seemed to be product placement evening on NBC, at least for The Office and 30rock. Is it a possibility that GE is really pushing NBC to do more product placements and that this is the writer’s response? Usually the writing on this show is so fine and so seamless…it almost seemed like a writer’s protest to me, since the product placement was so blatant and so unfunny. What do you think?
November 18th, 2006 08:36
I only get iTunes, not TV, so I have no idea what you people are talking about with the Staples thing. ???
I think the writers have bitten off more than they can chew. The cast is huge. This episode seemed over-the-top. Everyone seemed exaggerated. I suppose that’ll settle down once we’re past this transition.
Plus, remember that weeks, not days, have probably passed since the last episode. They needed time to move to Scranton. There was time for Jim & Karen to start something. But I agree it’s also possible that Jim was “improving the truth” about seeing someone else.
November 18th, 2006 12:55
Agree with you Liz, it did seem like Jim did a motion with his face to show disappointment while walking back to his car after talking with Pam in the parking lot in the last scene…I also noticed how Jim is referring to Karen by her last name..just as he did with Pam in their last telephone call..also felt a bit sorry for Michel when he recounted that he had to “fix” everything and referenced his Mom…did anyone catch that full line of that? Great episode..I think Angela might have Andy giving her some attention which would really freak Dwight out!
Also, I loved how Phyllis knew exactly where and what type of cologne Bob Vance gave her..Pine scented…
November 18th, 2006 15:41
Hey how’s it going?
I just came over from Digg. The comment you left on my review. I really like your site here man. It’s really nice. It’s great to find people that are as obsessed with this show as I am.
I couldn’t believe my article made it to the homepage I was amazed.
I sure hope that we can have a great blogging THe Office relationship here.
Aaron.

November 18th, 2006 22:22
i was disapointed to c kelly didnt interact with ne new employees they could have got some good humor off of that
other then that i thought it was one of the best episodes yet up there with the injury and diversity day
November 19th, 2006 08:30
Okay–I saw the whole epi last night on demand–this version didn’t have the Staples shredder.
I was sad about the Jam angle–seems like they’re both trying to cover hurt feelings. I hope we see more growth from Pam over the season (before they ultimately reunite). I don’t want her to stop experimenting with her clothes and hair just because Jim’s back. Maybe she’ll work harder now that she realizes she has competition. She will obviously have to learn to be honest with herself and the camera if this is to move forward. Notice how she always denies or downplays any attraction to Jim in her talking heads? Can you tell I’ve been thinking about Jam way too much?
Once again, Creed stole the show with just one line. Wonder where this ranked on the creep-o-meter?
So, I just realized that next week will be no office–or a rerun. Damn that Thanksgiving!
November 20th, 2006 07:34
I’m glad to hear that the iTunes version is lacking the Staples thing. For a minute, I thought I blacked out while watching & missed it.
I’m actually quite happy for Jim. He spilled his guts, was rebuffed & moved on. That’s a lot more than what I could’ve done. More power to him.
November 20th, 2006 07:36
I liked the episode and LOVE the Office, but I hated that STAPLES product placement. If STAPLES’ plan was to irritate me and make it less likely to shop there - mission accomplished.
November 20th, 2006 09:56
I watched the episode again a few times over the weekend and cannot believe that i (and everyone else) forgot to mention Michael’s comment on the lunch lady, how everyone makes fun of her, but at the end of the school year, the lunch lady was who he hung out with the most. oh my god, so funny.
November 20th, 2006 10:17
Sara, I thought that was a great part and was sure to include that part in the audio clips.

November 20th, 2006 11:25
My biggest fear is that NBC will try to play up this Jim and Pam (Jam) thing like Ross and Rachel (sp?) I never watched Friends but I knew enough about the Ross and Rachel thing peripherally that it annoyed me. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don’t stoop to that. I really love the writing on the show, I think it is great that the US version is not a carbon copy of the BBC version. But please don’t make it predictable.
November 21st, 2006 14:05
Certainly the Jim-Pam relationship (or not) falls under the category of “don’t overdo it or we’ll get sick of a good thing.” However, I think there will be several off-shoot romances this season to lessen the emphasis of Pam and Jim:
1) I suspect Pam will begin dating again in order to spite Jim - probably Toby (who’s trying to come out of his shell and recover from a previous divorce), but possibly a reunion with Roy if all else fails.
2) Throwing grease on the fire of the Dwight-Andy standoff, Andy had to go and curry the favor of Angela (kitschy cat screensaver and a compliment on her tense, non-happy smile). Once Andy finds out how much this insincere flirting bothers Dwight, he’s bound to pursue it further.
3) A few lesser romances…Phyllis and Bob Vance (of Vance Refrigeration)…Ryan and Kelly (hysterical)…Michael and his realtor AND Jan (regardless of the fact that Jan grows more stern with him every episode, I still feel like she’s two drinks at Chili’s away from making another bad decision and making out with him…call ita gut feeling).

I really enjoyed this episode. All the emotion of the Jim and Pam reunion really got to me. Especially when Karen put her hand on Jim’s back and Pam almost broke down in tears. You could literally see all the hope in her heart being sucked right out of her. It was tragic.
That being said, good for Jim. Even though I am rooting for them getting together sooner rather than later, I think that it is a good decision to keep Pam at arms length for now. I mean, come on, she ripped his heart out twice in the same night. I would be cautious with her too.
Overall not only was this the “dramatic” highlight of season 3 so far, it was also very funny. How could you not laugh at Jim staring at Dwight’s forehead, or Dwight and Andy’s elevator pissing contest. God I love this show.
Can’t wait to watch Jiam and Pam . . .and Karen, next week.
