John The Prop Guy On The Merger

Friday, November 17, 2006

Second only to the actual episode is the blog posting from John, the man in charge of the props for The Office. Today’s post is good so I give him props. (pun intended)

Highlight:

The Stamford RIP hats were conceived by the writers but that is my writing on all of them. The welcome bags that the new people received are full of actual coupons and literature from real NE PA resorts and stores. My favorite thing in it was “coal candy” which comes with a souvenir hammer. I haven’t seen that since I was a kid. The champagne and salmon bagel spread was supposesd be a pathetic attempt at fancy, and I think we got that. That was spakling cider in the champagne bottles.

The “Lazy Scranton Video” was a crack up. We cooked the bacon in a microwave at the last minute, and I begged a local sandwich store to let me by the full loaves from their store without the meat and everything. I got ten loaves for ten bucks, and Dwight and Michael took bites out of every one. The spray painting could only be done once on a junk car we rented and Steve did it perfectly.

There’s more if you’re interested. You can read it here
