A Dashboard Widget for LITO

Sunday, December 31st, 2006

I was feeling creative today so I thought I’d make a Dashboard widget for Life In The Office. It’s simple really. The widget updates each time a new post is put on the site. You can click on any post in the widget to have it open a browser and load the full post.

You can get the widget here.

(PS, Widgets use the Dashboard on Mac OS X.)

USA Today Sends Their Wishes

Friday, December 29th, 2006

Each morning I go out to my driveway and pick up the current issue of USA Today. I love the newspaper and how it’s put together. It’s the only one I subscribe to in real life. (The rest I read online.) And now I love it more.

This morning on the front page of the Living section was an article titled, “We wish they’d…” and the different writers hand in their wishes. In the “We wish they’d…get together” section the very top one was our dear sweet JAM.

With 2006 nearly over, it’s time to get on with 2007. The coming year could be an even better year in entertainment, we’re convinced, if only the powers that be would follow our wish list. Here it is, along with some sense of whether any of it will come true.
Jim and Pam on ‘The Office’

Back story: Comedy is the NBC show’s selling point, but it’s the longing-for-love subplot that helps make it human. Pam (Jenna Fischer) and Jim (John Krasinski) kissed at the end of last season, but she was engaged to someone else. Now Jim has his eye on Karen (Rashida Jones). Will he wind up with Karen or get back with Pam, his true soul mate?

Will it happen? Producers declined to comment, wishing not to give away any secrets. Guess we’ll have to watch.

John The Prop Guy On…Well…Everything

Friday, December 29th, 2006

Since there was not a new episode this week, John The Prop Guy wrote a blog post about everything that goes on behind the scenes. It is really, really interesting.

Our utility, Preston who keeps the endless battery operated devices all working is also in charge of wiring the actors. This gets to be dicey because when you wire a female because you have to get pretty personal. It is a rare sound guy that doesn’t creep out an actress when he has his hand down her shirt, sends a wire down her leg, and straps a battery pack to their thigh. And believe me they will complain. Preston does it with class and discretion. No, you can’t have his job.

There is a ton more information in the post and it has a tease of an ending.

As for “The Office,” I already know the plots we’ll be coming back to and they’re pretty crazy. We’re three episodes ahead right now, and there is enough craziness and stuff you never could imagine for ten blogs. Enjoy “The Return” next week, if that’s still the title, and the two episodes after that where there’s big, big, changes!

The People Have Spoken…

Thursday, December 28th, 2006

About a week ago, I asked everyone to vote for their favorite episode of The Office. The votes came pouring in. And now we have reached 1000 votes so I think it is a good time to announce the winner.

And the winner is…..drumroll please……………

To be honest, I wasn’t too surprised about this. Whenever I talk to people about the show and their favorite parts, the George Foreman grill burning Michael’s foot is nearly always brought up. In second place was Casino Night and that makes sense. I’m pretty sure that people liked the soul-giving foosh between Pam and Jim.

In case you want to see how the rest of the episodes fared, you can check it out here.

Finally a Little Office

Thursday, December 28th, 2006

There will be an episode of The Office on tonight…it just won’t be a new episode.

Tonight, NBC will be showing “The Convention.” This is a great episode where we get to see Dwight and Jim interact again and the awesome “Scranton Party Dance.”

BJ Novak Punk’d Hillary Duff

Wednesday, December 27th, 2006

Wow, the LJ Community finds some great things. Today, someone posted about an old episode of Punk’d that has BJ Novak (Ryan) in it.

In case you’re not familiar with the show, Ashton Kutchner is the host of Punk’d and he plays pranks on celebrities.

In this episode they punk Hillary Duff. BJ Novak is a driving instructor that really gives her a hard time. I remember seeing this on TV when it aired and remembering that Hillary Duff reacted really patient to the driving instructor. At the time, I had no idea who BJ was. He is really cruel in this clip.

Wow, the person known as seat18b may just be the biggest Office fan I know. She continually puts out good stuff.

Today, she posted two videos that she made. One is a tribute to the guys of The Office and the other one is a tribute to the gals. (The gals one is especially good.)

Vote For NBC’s Best Of 2006

Tuesday, December 26th, 2006

NBC has postes a new page to their site and they are asking the fans to vote the “Best of ‘06 on NBC.”

Image

As you might have guessed, The Office is featured in quite a few of the categories. (I wonder who will win for best kiss.)

I went thru each of the categories and surprisingly didn’t vote for The Office on all of them. Also, I was surprised that The Office wasn’t in some of them. How can “That’s what she said” not be among the best catch phrases?

Anyhow, below is the list of categories and you can go and vote here.

Andy Just Gets Me Laughing

Tuesday, December 26th, 2006

This morning I was making my way thru some Youtube videos and I was just reminded how much Andy makes me laugh. Here are two videos to reming you as well.

A Blog about NBC's "The Office". Because The Office is better than my office.
