Performing For John Krasinski
I get a lot of fun emails from the LITO readers about their Office related life events. I usually don’t post them to LITO, but I respond to all of them because I think they’re fun to hear.
I just received this email from my Aunt Jana. She sent it to my whole family and I thought it was funny. You have to know my Aunt Jana. She is a classy, mature and attractive woman. I think that adds to the shock of this story. But, I thought if I posted it here, some of the other LITO readers could comfort her by letting her know that we probaly would have done something equally as embarrassing if we met out favorite Office star. (Or maybe some of you have met an Office star and responded in a like fashion.) Here is her story:
So there I was, in New York City on December 1, 2006. The air was crisp, the streets were crowded and I was on the corner of Madison Avenue and 28th St. enjoying all that New York has to offer. And then….I saw him. Yes… It was the one and only JIM FROM “THE OFFICE”. He walked into a restaurant type bar and sat right next to a window facing the street. I walked by the window about 8 times to make sure it was really was him. Oh it was….. It was. Then I had, what I thought at the time was a magnificent idea. Looking back, not so much.
Those of you who saw the episode a few weeks ago when Michael pretends to go down a flight of stairs behind a stack of boxes and get a pencil—–well, I thought I would try that right in front of the window where Jim sat with his two friends. I did it. Oh, I did it. Started laughing so hard I had to stop in the middle of my ‘flight of stairs routine’ and take a moment. I don’t have any idea why I thought that might be a good idea. Maybe it was just New York City and I felt crazy. Maybe I thought Brian might be proud of his Aunt Jana. Well, I’m not sure what kind of lasting impression I might have left on Jim from ‘The Office’ but it sure is a story to remember!!!

I am SO glad to hear that Aunt Jana pulled this stunt. I’ll bet John Krasinski enjoyed it. I’ve run into a few celebrities (VERY few), and I always try to just say “Hi (blank),” and move on. Aunt Jana’s ad-lib was fantastic!

I would have made the face ‘Jim’ always makes when he looks at the camera.
Then maybe John would reply back with, “I do not think that is funny.”

That is awesome. I would never have been able to do that so very much respect and admiration for this woman!
