USA Today Sends Their Wishes

Each morning I go out to my driveway and pick up the current issue of USA Today. I love the newspaper and how it’s put together. It’s the only one I subscribe to in real life. (The rest I read online.) And now I love it more.

This morning on the front page of the Living section was an article titled, “We wish they’d…” and the different writers hand in their wishes. In the “We wish they’d…get together” section the very top one was our dear sweet JAM.

With 2006 nearly over, it’s time to get on with 2007. The coming year could be an even better year in entertainment, we’re convinced, if only the powers that be would follow our wish list. Here it is, along with some sense of whether any of it will come true.
Jim and Pam on ‘The Office’

Back story: Comedy is the NBC show’s selling point, but it’s the longing-for-love subplot that helps make it human. Pam (Jenna Fischer) and Jim (John Krasinski) kissed at the end of last season, but she was engaged to someone else. Now Jim has his eye on Karen (Rashida Jones). Will he wind up with Karen or get back with Pam, his true soul mate?

Will it happen? Producers declined to comment, wishing not to give away any secrets. Guess we’ll have to watch.

it’s weird, the office is exploding into mainstream pop culture at an amazing rate right before our eyes. steve carell is pretty much known everywhere now (instead of just “the rad guy from Anchorman/daily show”), and you can’t turn a corner without seeing a mention of the office in the media somewhere. that’s a good thing … right?

speaking of steve, i watched little miss sunshine tonight and it was probably the best movie i’ve seen all year. funny, tear-jerking, and poignant (plus a host of other positive adjectives) all rolled into one. i feel better about the universe for having seen it.

Well, it’s good to know we have USA Today backing us up. I’ve been happy to read that The Office has made a number of Top 10 TV lists of 2006, so that bodes well.
Oh, and darn producers, declining to comment. Can’t say I really blame them, though.

alex- I love Little Miss Sunshine so much! I watched it for the 3rd time yesterday (twice in theatres, once on DVD) and I still love every second of it. It’s so relateable to anyone who has a dysfunctional/crazy family, and manages to be hilarious and realistic.
