“The Return”
Season 3 Episode 13
Oscar returns from his long vacation with mixed emotions on whether or not he still wants to be a part of the office. Meanwhile, Andy takes advantage of recent events to get closer to Michael. Jim turns to Karen and Pam for help to stage a prank on a new target.
(temp post…hopefully. I’ve been slacking on my episode recaps. The news just comes in so fast after episodes.)

YESSSSSSSS
January 18th, 2007 18:58
Please no!!!! Karen, don’t leave us yet!!!
January 18th, 2007 19:05
That was one of the best this season I think!
January 18th, 2007 19:07
Producers Cut!! Even Better!
January 18th, 2007 19:15
“Do you still have feelings for her….yes.”
although I just started to like Karen….. JAM is finally back!!!
January 18th, 2007 19:22
why Jim…why!!!!!!????? It’s official if Pam hurts Jim again. I will officially kill her. With a chainsaw…r-r-r-r-r-rinnnnggggg….lmao
January 18th, 2007 20:01
I’m right with you Donavan. I have this bad feeling that Pam just might ruin this…again. If the writers are smart, and they are, they won’t do that to us…right? I hate watching Pam and Jim being heartbroken. It kills me.
January 18th, 2007 20:22
man… best episode since casino night.
Jim is no-nonsense, his one word: “Yes” response to Karen was reminiscent of booze cruise last year right after Pam and Roy get engaged (again):
Katie: “Do you think that will be us one day?”
Jim: “No”
Katie: “What is wrong with you, why did you even bring me here tonight?”
Jim: “I don’t know, let’s break up.”
classic!
January 18th, 2007 20:23
It’s about time Jim owned up to his feelings. Good episode-made me very happy. The episode summary kind of made me mad-I didn’t feel thta Oscar had “mixed emotions on whether or not he still wants to be a part of the office.” I mean, he probably did, but I just didn’t see it in the episode. And it totally sounded like Jim, Pam, and Karen would be working together. But I’m happier with the way things worked out.
January 18th, 2007 20:42
He said “Yes!”…Oh. My. Goodness.
My husband and I weren’t home, so we DVR’d the episode and just finished watching it. On the preview, they showed Karen asking Jim if he still had feelings for Pam. I looked at my husband and said “Of course he’ll say no.”
I can’t believe he said yes.
And I’m so glad this probably signals the end of Andy. He was driving me crazy. Had from the beginning.
Glad Dwight’s back. I was actually yelling at the television for him to kiss Angela when he returned to the office.
January 18th, 2007 20:46
It said stay tuned for more office, but there was nothing! And I cant find the producer’s cut anywhere on NBC. Can someone please put a link to it?
January 18th, 2007 21:42
one of my favorite episodes of the season
i kind of like this more dramatic tilt the writers seem to be taking the story on the last two weeks, it’s really shown a different side to some characters - michael especially
but the most important part of my post —-
Has anyone else had trouble finding the producers cut on nbc.com? I can’t find it anywhere - only deleted scenes from last week!
HELP!!!!
January 18th, 2007 21:59
just go to nbc.com/the_office. It is the main video playing
January 18th, 2007 21:59
when kevin tried to tie the blindfold on dwight before he attacked the pinata…
dwight: “no thanks, i don’t need it”
classsssssic.
January 18th, 2007 22:53
Anyone else think that Andy looked like Gollum while he was slinking around the kitchen during the fiesta?
January 18th, 2007 23:29
Post-it Thief: I totally agree with you, the synopsis was so misleading! It didn’t even mention Dwight…we were all so worried for nothing!
This episode was so great…I was squealing when Jim said he had feelings for Pam! And how funny was that cell phone prank? Andy is a nut.
January 18th, 2007 23:56
I love when Pam and Jim are miserable. Misery makes me laugh.
Rashida Jones is hotter than Jenna Fischer. I hope Jones sticks around.
January 19th, 2007 00:21
BYE BYE Karen! I screamed when he said yes. I’m glad that I do not have neighbors that are more close.
Andy used to be funny, but now he is downright obnoxious. It takes a lot to get to Michael Scott.
January 19th, 2007 05:27
twiddly diddly dee!
great episode
January 19th, 2007 06:20
Did anyone notice when Michael and Dwight were leaving Staples the theme song from “An Officer and a Gentleman” was playing. LMAO!!!
Also, Michael gives the broom for to wach the pinata to the man of the hour (or something). Oscar starts to step forward, but Dwight cuts him off.
January 19th, 2007 06:29
Dwight K. You summed it up.
Yesssss was my exact response.
I thought I was emotionally involved in the Pam/Jim storyline, but when Dwight agreed to come back I felt disturbingly warm and fuzzy inside.
Congratulations universe. I love Dwight!
January 19th, 2007 06:30
Oh yeah- and Ryan’s “ask me 10 years ago and I might have said yes…”
I liked him better as a temp too.
January 19th, 2007 07:06
Love this episode! Dwight as a salesman at Staples was hilarious and his reunion with Michael was classic.
January 19th, 2007 07:38
Andy and Karen better not leave…
January 19th, 2007 08:05
I think this ranks right up there as one of my favorite episodes. To the show’s writers….you guys are awesome!
January 19th, 2007 08:09
Andy and Karen better leave…
January 19th, 2007 08:17
The cool thing about last weeks episode is that Dwight’s actions probably would get him some Angelaction, but he was probably too “sad” :
January 19th, 2007 08:37
I’m trying to remember the list of five things that Dwight lists as his three reasons to be hired….can anyone help?
January 19th, 2007 08:47
Jeff, it’s never a good idea to post your email like that because spambots will eat it up. I took your email out of your comment.
However, your question is answered in the forums.

January 19th, 2007 14:08
I’m pretty sure a muzack version of “Love lifts us up where we belong” is playing when Michael gets Dwight at Staples.
January 19th, 2007 14:34
Anyone else find it funny that Andy said he was gonna get his “LOST” on? funny that NBC would allow screen time for another network.
January 19th, 2007 14:42
How about Andy suggesting a nap with Michael at his place? Is this typical male bonding behavior or…?
January 19th, 2007 15:42
“funny that NBC would allow screen time for another network.”
They’ve mentioned lost a couple times on the show and they mentioned amazing race last episode. It’s pretty typical behavior (conan/leno don’t just interview people on NBC you know)
January 20th, 2007 11:13
By far one of the best this season! Favorite moments: 1) Dwight’s interview “hard worker, alpha-male, jackhammer, merciless, insatiable”
2) Pam “I think we broke his brain!” 3) Jim finally being honest with himself and Karen!
