Videos of Rainn On SNL (Updated)
Last night, Rainn Wilson (Dwight) hosted Saturday Night Live. As usualy, I was way too tired to stay up that late, but luckily NBC has posted some of the videos on their homepage. My favorite was definitely the monologue. SNL goes Office-style and and even Rashida makes a guest appearance.

He was awesome, but I couldn’t stay up for the whole thing. It didn’t help that my NBC station went out due to the ice storm (I can only assume) in the middle of the jukebox skit.
LOVED the opening monologue and the newscast.

Just watched the show on my Tivo, and I have a couple of thoughts.
Rainn was quite funny throughout the entire thing despite really subpar material. I’m always hesitant to jump on the “SNL sucks!” bandwagon, but I think it’s safe to say that this show is officially in the crapper.
Many of the sketches were like something out of a high school improv class or just completely ripped off from other places. I give Rainn a lot of credit because he went full throttle the whole time.
Another problem is the writers at SNL have no idea how to pace a show anymore. Sketches and one-note jokes drag out for far too long, and I’m pretty sure Weekend Update lasted about a day and a half. And can someone please punch Seth Meyers in the face to get him to stop mugging for the camera everytime he’s on? The opening monologue was the only sketch to get it completely right.
Thumbs up for Rainn Wilson. Good enthusiasm in the face of lousy material. Thumbs down for pretty much everything else.

The Show (SNL) is only as good as the host that the cast is working with. With a bad host, the show is not good. They cast fed off rainns comedy background and it was an excellent show. There is still hope if they keep bringing good hosts in.
