Changes In The Introduction Of The Office

Alright, I thought I was going crazy but I just did an experiment and concluded that I’m not….at least not in this sense.

For the last few episodes, I’ve noticed that the intro to The Office with the theme song seemed shorter. Just now, I played the intro to the Halloween Episode and it lasted 31 seconds. Then, I played the intro of the Cocktails episode and it was only 25 seconds. Upon further inspection, it looks like they took out the part with the calculator and some other random scenes.

So, a few observations:

- The producers aren’t kidding when they say they try for every second that they can.
- Did anyone notice when they started doing the shorter intro?
- The intro is the only thing not in high definition. John Krasinski went out there before the pilot of the show with some friends and did some recording. Get that crew out to Scranton and fire up those HD cameras.

Yes, I know this isn’t real important. Yes, I too am eager for a new episode. But, surely I’m not the only one that wondered if the intro had been shortened.

Yeah, I definitely noticed when the theme got shorter. A couple more seconds of the show we love is worth it!

I noticed it too. I think it was either “Traveling Salesman” or “The Return” when I noticed it. They show all the actors names in order, rather then have a clip of Steve, then an Office gadget, then John, then another office gadget, etc. There was also an episode during Feb where it went back to the long intro, I think it was “Phyllis’ Wedding.” Hey, I’m all for giving Creed 5 more seconds to steal the show with :)

I also noticed it… Im glad they didn’t make the cuts on the Scranton parts though… That is really one of the main reasons I got hooked on the show to begin with… how they really put effort into portraying the show in Scranton, PA. I’m glad they still continue to add real-life references in the show… Like Poor Richards last week. I only miss the inside sources that used to cover that stuff… aka Scranton Insider and John the Prop Guy….

Yes I noticed, too. The scene with Jim standing behind Pam (from “The Hot Girl” is gone) - a hint that there is less JAM this season than in Season 1 and 2, perhaps.

Wow, nice eye. I didn’t catch it, but I’m usually up dancing to the music during that 25-31 sec interval.

Ya - I thought it was shorter too - I thought while I was fastforwarding through the opening it went faster than usual! So thanks for confirming. I don’t miss those 6 seconds at all.

I think the first time it happened was during “Traveling Salesman”. It’s worth it to get in an extra few seconds to the show. As much as I love the theme song, I can hear it every time my phone rings, so I’m not missing it when the show airs.
