David is the C.F.O. (not his intitials, common mistake) of Dunder Mifflin. Rachel is his patient wife. Together they own a 5,000 square foot colonial house and they have a timid child.

It looks as though David and Rachel’s large colonial home is supposed to be located in Westchester county, just North of NYC. The catering company that worked his cocktail party was called “White Plains catering” (White Plains is a city in Westchester county) and his home was proctected by Mt Vernon home security (noted during the “Branch Closing” episode–Mt Vernon is another town in the county.) It makes sense since many high level NYC executives reside in Westchester county.
