Rainn Wilson The Rock Star

I’m sure you all remember when Rainn made his visit to Scranton. There were a lot of LITO readers there. But, it turns out that he did a lot more than just show up at the mall.

Philadelphia magazine is running a great article of all the gun things that Rainn did while in Scranton.

Rainn Wilson is amazed. “I’m a minor TV celebrity,” he’s told one Scrantonian. But not in this town. Wilson wades into the crowd and gasps, “I’m a rock star.”

He had no idea of the depth of Scranton’s hunger for celebrity, no matter how minor. This town two hours up the Turnpike from Philly has long had a self-effacing, hangdog character, brought on by decades of economic stagnation. But now the big picture is looking good, young people are hanging around, and thanks in part to this unusual prime-time sitcom, Scranton — could it be?! — is suddenly kind of hip.

It sounds like Rainn had a good time. There is much more in the article.

I have read the article several times now and I didn’t find any reference to any “gun” things that Rainn did while in the Electric City. He did sound like he had a bang up good time though and the people at the Mall at Steamtown did get the most bang for their buck. So maybe that shoots down that theory of the Scranton phantom “gun” references…

Rainn stayed in Scranton at the Radisson Hotel, which is located in the magnificent, old train station. This is where one would take “the slow train to Philly” if the trains were still running!
