Reports From The Parade
First, my confession. We made it all the way out here to Philadeplphia on Friday night, but with the three hour tme difference, a 2 year old and a pregnant wife, we just didn’t have the energy to make the 3 hour drive up to Scranton for the parade. So in short, we didn’t make it.
But, the awesome John Webster left this comment a few posts back:
Hi, John Webster from Rock107 in Scranton here (Dwight’s favorite radio station despite the Froggy sticker…”Hello, Rock107, am I the 107th caller?” when he was trying to win the Jethro Tull boxset, and let’s not forget it was a Rock107 t-shirt he wore in the Lazy Scranton video.)
Another St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the history books here in the Electric City.
The Rock107 contingent was in the parade as always. We took a bunch of pictures. Now remember, since we were IN the parade, we didn’t see ANY of the parade except for the division we were in and what was still on television in the bars hours after we were done.
That said, there are pictures of the Rock107 gang behind the Scranton Times building before the parade, in the staging area on Mulberry Street, and then of the actual parade route from our perspective.
So if you’re not a northeast PA resident, you probably won’t know the people in the pictures but you can get a nice peek at what the crowds are like at teh 4th largest St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the country, and a glimpse or two of downtown Scranton (when it’s not obscured by the crowds that is.)
You can see a slideshow at www.webster107.blogspot.com or www.myspace.com/webster107

Hope you check ‘em all out and enjoy!
Awesome.
And other LITO-ites make the mecca to Scranton for the parade?

So funny you were in Philly–I’m in the burbs of Philly! We could have had a LITO get-together!

Did you at least stay for Philly’s parade on Sunday? Not quite the same but its a parade nonetheless. Where were you that it would take 3 hours to get to Scranton? Everyone in NEPA knows Philly is 2 hours from Scranton (not 120 miles).

Scranton is only 90-120 minutes from Philly… on average.
Sorry you couldn’t make it. According to the Times ( the Scranton not New York version) there was a “documentary crew filming it” At first I wondered if an Office crew WAS in?
While I did see a couple guys with digital cameras, no-one that looked like a tv crew or with professional enough equipment ( unless you count wyou-TV22 who telecast the whole thing) was there.
A good parade , quick at 3 hours( if you could say that for a parade with 8,000 marchers). If you want, maybe Webster and a couple of Scranton fans/ex-pats could have a LITO brigade or float in the next one. It seems like they will take anyone!

Hmmm….On the local news after the parade, they DID show and interview a professional film crew from L.A.that said they were doing a documentary on the parade. They had what looked like professional equipment, and I wondered if they were actually capturing scenes for The Office, even though they didn’t say that.

Dude, you were in Philly, right near me. I saw the parade on television, not bad.

The camera crew was from LA but was not associated with NBC or Deedle-Dee or Reveille. It was for an indy doc an ex-NEPA resident, now living in LA, is making. The bigger rumor Saturday was that Hillary Clinton was in town for the parade. Not true. She didn’t even stop to visit her father’s grave 5 minutes from the parade route.
