It’s All About the Schrutebucks
NBC reports,
* On Thursday, the one-hour season finale of “The Office” was #1 in the time period in adults 18-49, adults 18-34 and all key adult-male demographics. “The Office” scored NBC’s highest 18-49 rating and largest total viewership in the time period in 12 weeks. In the valuable demographic of adults 18-34, “The Office” topped its nearest competitor, ABC’s “Ugly Betty,” by a 38 percent margin of victory.
The full press release also notes that “The Office” is the ‘most upscale series in primetime.’ This means that of households with incomes of $100,000 and higher, “The Office” brings in the highest concentration of adult viewers (adults aged 18-49 are counted).
More good news for “The Office”: according to today’s Google blog, Creed Thoughts is ON FIRE. On May 17, the night of the finale, ‘creed thoughts’ was #7, ‘the office season finale’ was #17, and ‘melora hardin’ was #19. These aren’t simply the top searches, but terms with the biggest change in number of searches. I’m guessing that Creed Thoughts was the highest because before the finale aired, no one was searching for that combo. However, I’m sure there were lots of previous searches for Melora Hardin. I’d bet the reason she’s the only one of the actors to appear in the Trends list because people were Googling Melora were trying to find out if she’d, erm, upgraded in real life as well. Thanks for the tip, Eliezer!!

I laughed when you speculated that perhaps Melora Hardin had “upgraded” in real life as well. What a dedicated actress… willing to do whatever it takes to lift the show to the next level!
