Throwback Thursday #3, “Booze Cruise” [Season 2, Episode 11]

An insta-classic, in my opinion. But as someone who learned the “boss of dancing” routine and performed it at a lip-sync contest/fundraiser, I may be a bit biased. (FYI, I got an honorable mention.) We learn that Jim’s a save-the-receptionist-kinda-guy, though we kind of suspected (unlike Michael, who usually has a radar for stuff like that). Roy re-proposes to Pam, Meredith gets some action from a Captain whose last name isn’t Morgan, Jim breaks up with Katy, Toby misses the boat, and Dwight gets to steer the ship. One of the biggest JAM moments ever, the 27 seconds of silence, takes place. Jim finally confesses his crush-to the worst possible person he could choose to confess to, Michael. But Michael delivers inspiring words: “BFD. Engaged ain’t married. Never, ever, ever give up.”

Fun Facts:
-Mindy Kaling’s writing partner, Brenda Withers, appears as Brenda from corporate. The pair wrote, produced, and directed a show for the WB that never made it on the air, called “Mindy & Brenda” (2006)
