The Office Convention ~ We’re here!

Ok, so it’s now 1am Scranton time. I am just getting down to posting! What a great time it has been so far…So much to share with the LITO readers. I guess I’ll start at the beginning. Hopefully, I won’t fall asleep at my keyboard like Pam did!
First off let me just say how wonderful everyone has been. The cast is everywhere! They have been out and about mingling with the fans. They are very accessable, which is awesome! Here is my very favorite picture so far, it’s of Executive Producer, Greg Daniels and lil ol’ me!

Honestly, I can’t say enough kind words about Mr. Daniels! He was so sweet and truly touched about the outpouring of love from Office fans. But more on him later….:)

Getting here was a little nuts! First off, my hubby was supposed to go with me but came down with a stomach bug on Thursday. By Friday he was a little better, but not really up to a trip to Scranton. But, lucky me, my cousin Barbie was in town from North Carolina! She’s an Office fan too and was happy to fill his shoes (and take his ticket!) So, off we trekked to Scranton. Three and a half hours of driving in the pouring rain later, we finally made it.

First stop, University of Scranton to pick up our passes and registration packets. There we were treated to a complimentary lunch and got some free swag (U of S t-shirts). Very cool!  We also got to meet some fellow Office fans in from Illinois, Kristina and Nathan. I gotta share this story. Kristina took some time off work for the convention. She told her boss she had a friend’s wedding to go to in Scranton. Her friends, Jim & Pam! lol  Isn’t that awesome? I told her if that was true, where’s my invite?!

After sign-in, Barbie and I walked downtown to check out the street festival. The weather was just starting to clear up. Here are some pictures from the NBC tent where they were selling merchandise, and where cast members; Mindy Kaling (Kelly), Melora Hardin (Jan), Phyllis Smith (Phyllis) and Bobby Ray Shafer (Bob Vance) were signing autographs. We did not wait in the autograph line, but were still able to get up close for some candid photos. Here is Phyllis and Bob taking a picture with a lucky fan.

Here is Mindy and Melora. These are not zoomed at all by the way. I was standing about 3 feet from them!

Here is my cousin Barbie and I in front of the main stage of the street festival just before the Scrantones took the stage. Check out the huge screen tv showing The Office behind me to the left!

Here’s Farley’s!

And last for this post, check out this Scranton funeral parlor getting into the Office groove!

Thanks so much for reading! I wish I had time to post more tonight, but it will have to wait until tomorrow! Next post will feature video and pictures from Saturday’s Press Conference & the Q&A! “Ain’t no party like a Scranton party, cause a Scranton party don’t stop!!

Yes, LOVE the funeral parlor getting into the “spirit” of the event. I may be in Canada, but next year, Scranton! Actually, I grew up in California in the 60’s and 70’s and it was a lot like this seemed to be - celebs were much more accessible and you could really meet/talk with them and have some meaningful interactions. Not the paparazzi swarming way it seems to be now. This is an amazing experience for fans of this show and a HUGE coup for NBC. It is so nice to see this kind of thing is still possible. What a great cast they must all be to participate.
