Office Convention - Look-a-like contest & Scrantones Concert
One hour after the cast Q&A was the character look-alike contest, and the Scrantones, at Lackawanna College. It’s been run, run, run all day long! Whew! All the events are in different places around Scranton. I’m sure the convention planners did this to showcase as much of their beautiful town as they could. But with the events scheduled so close together, we found ourselves late to just about everything! So much Office, so little time…:)

I have to admit that my cousin and I opted to eat something first and then make our way to the event. This decision made us late, and we missed some of the look-a-like contest. We did catch the end where all the winners were on stage. And let me tell you, the fans really got into it! There were cool, unique costumes all over the place. Office fans are quite the creative bunch! Barbie and I were excited about our costumes, but sad we missed out on entering the contest. I was dresses as Cousin Mose, and Barbie was dressed as Pam.
Here is the outside of Lackawanna College, where the event was held.
Once we got inside, the energy was just rockin’! The contest was in full swing. Phyllis Smith (Phyllis), Leslie David Baker (Stanley) and Andy Buckley (David Wallace) were judging the costumes. Below is a brief clip of the contest. It includes the Sprinkles contestants, Faxes from Future Dwight, Garbage the Cat, and the Benihana Girls.
Here are some photos from the contest.

Here is someone dressed as Michael Scott.

Here is me with another Mose.

Here I am with Bobblehead Dwight.

Here’s Barbie as Pam with someone dressed as the breakroom vending machine. Notice Dwight’s stuff from his desk inside! lol

After the contest, The Scrantones were introduced. For those of you who are not familiar with the group, they perform the theme song to The Office (which is my cell phone ring tone, by the way!).
Kate Flannery (Meredith) was invited onstage to perform with the band. She is so energetic and fun.

She was jumping all over the place and really seemed to be enjoying herself. Here is a video of her playing the keyboards while The Scrantons perform the theme song. Props to andylanechapman for the video.
Here is a little snipet video of her singing. Props to moviegirl11ny for the video.
Next up was Creed Bratton (Creed).

He sang with Kate first, then sang “Midnight Confessions” solo, then played guitar for the screaming crowd. As we’ve already seen in “Booze Cruise”, he can really rock the axe! Fun Fact: Creed was in the 1960’s band, “The Grassroots”. They sang that song, “Live for Today”. I posted the video a few weeks ago on LITO. You know the song, the chorus is, “na, na, na, na, na, na, live for today!” Now everybody sing!

The crowd was eating him up! Here is another brief snipet video of Creed performing. Props to cjogrady for the video.
Then, the Scrantones singer came up to serenade Leslie David Baker (Stanley) a cute little song called, “My heart belongs to Stanley”. She had a great voice, and Leslie danced and swayed along with her, keeping the crowd hootin’ and hollerin’. Leslie was all-smiles, very un-Stanley like! lol See brief clip below. Props to PhillyJim32 for the video.
The crowd was also treated to Ed Helms (Andy) singing a take-off of the Steppenwolf song, “Werewolves of London” called “Werewolves of Scranton”.
Melora Hardin (Jan) showed everyone she is not just a beautiful face, and a great actress, but she also has a great voice! Some girls have all the luck! lol Her sexy rendition of “Loosen up my buttons” had people lining up to buy her CD.
And Craig Robinson (Darryl) is just fantastic. Dinkin Flicka baby! Check out this brief clip of Craig pumping up the crowd. Props to cjogrady for the video.
At the end of the show, the whole cast came out on stage for The Scrantones closing performance of their theme song. Props to ItGetter for the video.
Most of these video’s I snagged off of YouTube, because as I mentioned before in my earlier blogs, our camera’s were possesed! While surfing around the site, I found this montage video of most of the cast perfomances from The Scrantones concert. Check it out. Props to dschreff for the video
If any LITO readers have additional photos or videos they’d like to share from the convention, please email me at doves629@aol.com. And as always, comments are very appreciated!

“Werewolves of London” was Warren Zevon, not Steppenwolf.

Steppenwolf DID do the original “Werewolves Of Scranton,” if I’m not mistaken.*
*This is SO not true.
