Another thing you can do to support the WGA
Here’s another thing you can do to support the WGA. Please send polite, but strong letters to the AMPTP and NBC/Universal. Let them know we are not going to settle for anything less than the TV shows we love written by WGA writers.
NBC STUDIOS:
3000 W Alameda Ave.
Burbank, CA 91523
UNIVERSAL STUDIOS
100 Universal City Plaza
Universal Studios, CA 91608
Come on! Lets all get out our Dwight Schrute pens and I love Jim stationary and write some letters!

Why do we want to support the WGA? Are they being mistreated? Did they lose anything?
Or are they asking for more then they already get?

MichaelG, yes to all of your questions.
I may be off in left field here, but it seems like the things we should really be avoiding the most are supporting the DVD sales and the internet promos. I would say to make a real and immediate difference, don’t visit NBC.com and don’t watch the episodes online. I know most of us have it already, but if you’re one of the unfortunate few, don’t go buy the Season 3 DVD set. Wait until the strike is over. I you need to get your fix, I’ve got all three seasons. You can borrow mine. These are the main points of contention and by showing them that we will not support the things the writers aren’t getting paid for, it will make more of an impact. Let’s see what happens when their website activity drops to nil.

I think it’s important to understand two things:
1. People like Greg Daniels aren’t striking to get more money for themselves. They’re striking because most WGA writers don’t get compensated nearly as much as one would think. I think writers like our beloved Office writers, who probably get paid very well (though we have no way of knowing) are fighting for the little guys because they’ve been there. The little guys need the entire WGA–and the media-viewing public–to stand with them nd make a change.
2. Anything sold or viewed online makes revenue that isn’t shared with actors, writers, producers, or anyone who put their time and creativity into the creation of that media. Last year, Kevin Federline made more residuals from that one song of his than Office Writers made on their internet webisodes (they made nothing).
Kevin Federline. That’s all I have to say.

I’m with ya. It’s time to put all those great The Office note pads I got at Target for a buck to good use.
MichaelG - They are not asking for anything unreasonable; just a cut of revenue from new media. Please read the posts related to the strike for more information.

@ Jazzinator:
I totally agree. I will not be going to nbc.com, downloading any online media or buying any DVDs until the strike is over. But I guess the reason we are sending letters is because it will annoy them. And it will show them we won’t watch any stupid show on TV, we want our scripted shows!!
