There is hope for The Office to come back despite strike
Earlier this week Jay Leno, as well as other comedians are coming back on air after New Years Day. This is a result of the WGA approaching individual production companies to make side deals after a complete breakdown of negotiations and no further negotiations scheduled. As times get titer for WGA members, who knows, this could possibly be a new way of doing business. There is hope that the over 100 employees of The Office Production Staff who were laid off maybe back in business while still supporting the strike.

Also just in case you need to be reminded of what the WGA is going after, here’s a good video that sums it up.

Chris, I don’t understand how this will work. I’ve watched both videos (the second one is very informative), but they don’t explain how the Office production staff may soon be back in business. What am I missing here?

Bob,
Your not missing anything here. I’m just pointing out that the WGA is now approaching the individual production companies (hoping to break up the AMPTP) to get shows back on the air and that they may do the same with The Office as Jay Leno and Conan O’Biran are coming back, despite being affiliated with NBC.
Hope that clears it up.

These shows are coming back to the air without the benefit of writers. These shows won’t even have opening monologues, top 10 lists, etc. A show like the office, that relies so heavily on it’s script, would make this harder to do. But hey, they dont call it Hollyweird for nothing
