I AM A DUNDERHEAD

Well, tonight was the night that I realized just how big of an Office fan I really am. One of my friends texted me, while I was watching The Office, and the text read, “The Office now owns my life, what have you done to me?!” (He was a friend who I recently made sit through the Pilot) This got me thinking. Just how big of an Office fan am I?

I never thought that I would be playing The Office Drinking Game, or writing for a blog about The Office, just a few years ago. The Office found me one Thursday night in March of 2005. I needed a laugh and saw a preview for the Pilot. Having laughed at “Office Space”, I thought that this would be more or less the same. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. To this date I have never missed the first airing of an Office episode nor have ever felt this attached to any TV show out there.

It’s amazing how big the Office fan base is. Most of my friends watch the show, and live to see JAM or Michael dissing Toby. One of my friends even told me he felt out of place when I would say a one liner from the show, and another one of my friends would say the line that comes after it. It would just go over his head, while my other friend and I would be on the ground laughing. Or one night we made up our own “Office Trivia”. Where we would fire questions back and forth for a good 2 hours. Sometimes the questions would get as specific as “What is Andy’s screen-name when their all playing Call of Duty in Stamford?” (Here Comes Treble; for all of you that I know are wondering)

I guess I’m one in a million. A true Office fan, a Dunderhead. I’m sure that if you visit and/or write for this site regularly, you are a Dunderhead as well.

As 2007 wraps up, it really hurts me not to turn on the TV Thursday nights and be greeted by the amazing talent of The Office cast. I can only hope that the years to come will not let us down.

Thanks for the laughs Office cast.

Best Wishes for 2008,

~Chris

I have gotten hooked on the Office “style” of humor: the single camera capturing the actors’ deadpan delivery. Other TV sitcoms, with their set-ups and punchlines (and their laugh tracks) seem very old-fashioned to me now.

I hope the new year brings a new resolve to end this writers’ strike!

I have to admit that I was a little pissed when new episodes stopped airing. So pissed in fact that I sort of forgot about the Office and didn’t let myself think about it too often. I sometimes forgot that it was Thursday and I was supposed to be watching something. But I got the second season for Christmas and found myself spending a whole entire day watching episodes. Aw, how quickly the feeling comes back. That feeling of longing and yearning for the Office. The great joy and laughs. Awww…now I miss it more than ever!

I miss it, I need it, I am addicted to it.
Here’s hoping 2008 brings us LOTS more OFFICE.
It’s NUTS how much I need it.

my friends and i started our own office drinking game. we didnt get that far with the rules because we got pretty trashed really fast.

    1. drink whenever any character blatently looks at the camera
    2. drink again whenever Jim looks at the camera
    3. drink whenever michael says “that’s what she said”
    4. drink whenever dwight mentions his cousin/beet farm/or comparing whatever to farming

we got drunk fast. anyway, crazy isnt it? i got into the office because it was on before scrubs. now scrubs unfortunately is nowhere near the laughs that The Office is.

OK, New Year’s Eve is over, and hopefully everybody is sobered up from their Office drinking games. Now let’s put all our concentration into ending this writers’ strike. A brand new Office episode… I’ll drink to that!
