NBC Live Blog with Greg Daniels and the writers

NBC.com hosted a live blog with Office Executive Producer Greg Daniels and the writers for one hour after the airing of “Dinner Party”. Greg and Co. responded to questions sent in prior to tonight’s airing, and also some questions from the live-bloggers.  Click HERE to read the entire blog.

 But Beware! There are spoilers…

If you don’t want to read the entire live-blog, click “more” below for a synopsis of the more interesting points.    ~Donna

Ok, here’s is what me-myself-and-I found important about the live-blog with Greg Daniels and the writers. Beware the Spoilers…

Gene Stupinsky and Lee Eisenberg were not present during the live-blog. They were (right then! *sigh*) filming another upcoming episode for The Office entitled, “Job Fair”.

“Dinner Party” was inspired by the classic play by Virginia Wolfe. “Gay Witch Hunt” was inspired by “Angels in America” meets “The Crucible” and “Beach Games” was inspired by “Raisins in the Sun”.

The song from tonight’s episode that Jan’s former assistant Hunter wrote is entitled, “That One Song”. It is by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupinsky with music by Todd Fancy of The New Pornographers.

The next episode, “Chair Model” in Office-time happens a month after “Dinner Party” took place. This episode will concern Michaels first post-Jan dating…

Dwight’s date from “Dinner Party” is actress Beth Grant. She was in “No Country for Old Men” and has also done voice work on “King of the Hill” which of how Greg Daniels knows her.

Paul Frig is directing the one-hour season finale which airs May 15th.

Greg’s grandfather grew up on a beet farm.

Mindy Kaling claims that Ed Helms now”breaks” more than she does. “Breaks” refers to when an actor cracks up during a scene. Mindy is known for breaking all the time.

Mindy Kaling will be in an upcoming Esquire article.

They used CGI to “remove” Angela’s pregnant belly when needed.

Writer Justin Spitzer (Meredith’s intern in “Fun Run”) is considered the Toby of the writer’s room. FYI: Gene Stupinsky already alluded to that when LITO interviewed him back in November 2007.

Hope you enjoyed my synopsis. We’re finally out of our Office-drought LITO readers. And, man o man, was I thirsty! lol   ~Donna

Thanks, Donna, for staying up late and posting all this Office stuff. I’m really jazzed after watching the new episode and I don’t want this good “Office-y” feeling to end yet!
