While Jenna can be a delight on The Office, I must take great exception to her recent comments regarding the Lake of the Ozarks on the David Letterman show. She calls it “her Lake”, well no one who knows and loves The Lake of the Ozark would ever say the things she did. How long ago was she here??????
Her recollections at best were very out dated and inaccurate. The boat at the Damn with the paddle wheel is the Tom Sawyer and not the Larry Don. It has been years since these boats have held regular “dance cruises” with live bands. When they were operating the crowds were not hillbillies, believe me, I know, I was there - the fans were rock n roll fans just like anyone else having a good time. Perhaps she was too much of a sorority want to be girl to appreciate a fun night out on the Lake.
While Bagnell Dam is historic and interesting to see and hear about regarding the history and what created our beautiful Lake
Her parents must have a had a little fishing cabin some where on the Lake and not a beautiful multi-million dollar mansion that graces a large majority of the shore line these days. There are luxurious resorts around the Lake area, with award winning golf courses designed by golf masters such as: Jack Nicholas, Arnold Palmer, Robert Trent Jones, Sr., Ken Cavanaugh, just to name a very few. If you could see the luxurious yachts and large sea going race boats that play on this beautiful Lake every weekend the term hillbilly does not come to mind what so ever.
Yes, there is a talking potty at a local nostalgic entertainment area on the Bagnell Damn strip, but get over yourself Jenna, this is not what the Lake is known for! You might want to look further than the Bagnell Damn strip on your next visit if you really want to show your guests what is to see at The Lake. Because frankly you and your family are the ones looking like a hillbilly if that is all you can show them of “your Lake”!
Get away from your awkward girlish ideas of “your” Lake and get on board with what is here and now! I would ask you never to mention the Lake again in public if you can’t do better than what you did on Letterman. You should be ashamed and quite frankly you are not welcome back.
Perhaps you guys enjoyed the lake during different eras. Jenna is afterall 34. So, the hillbilly reference was when she was 18 which is probably about 16 years ago.
I’m sure things have changed a lot since then.
Also, it’s a talk show and it’s supposed to be funny. Lighten up!
Well I’ve lived at the Lake for 22 years and agree that there’s not much to do besides boating. The Lake has great history which includes the Bagnell Dam, and Willmore Lodge, etc. It’s great to relive the memories of visiting the Dam and the “Strip.” For someone who now lives in L.A. and travels the world, they might regard our residents as somewhat hillbilly but I assure you, some of the wealthiest people I’ve ever been in contact with reside at the Lake. Come on back, Jenna. We’ll show you how to have fun!

She is absolutely adorable. The animatronic talking potty imitation slays me!

I’m surprised that Jenna didn’t draw the parallel to the “Booze Cruise” episode.
