Spin-Off news

E! Online’s “Watch with Kristin” reports some “spoilers” about The Office spin-off, set to air after the Super-Bowl 2009. If you don’t want to know, quit reading NOW!

Is there any chance that Jim and Pam will be the Office spinoff, or part of the spinoff, since Pam is going to New York? Please say no!
Steve Carell makes my heart sing by telling us: “As far as I know, nobody is leaving ship. At least at this point, from what I’ve heard, I don’t think it’s based on any of the characters from the existing show. It’s an entirely new setup with new characters.”

If the spin-off is an “entirely new set-up with new characters,” then WHAT is the link? Dunder-Mifflin? Scranton? The single hand-held documentary-style camera-work?

From this information, it sounds like they’re saying “The Office is a well-made show, and we plan on creating ANOTHER well-made show.”

I’m not sure Bob. I’ve also heard that Ed Helms will be in the spin-off and that Paul Lieberstein will be at the helm. But now, it looks like it’s Greg Daniels and Michael Shur’s gig. Who knows?! Maybe Steve Carell is saying no one is jumping ship because he can’t say at this point?

I also remember around the time of the finale that the rumors were the finale would “set things up for the spinoff”. Well, if it did, I certainly missed it! I was thinking at the time that maybe Dwangela back together would signal Andy to leave Scranton and be in the spin-off, but now with Steve’s comment, (again) who knows?!

I don’t watch a lot of TV. But the Office is so well written and produced and acted, that I’ll tune in to whatever the heck they come up with. If they decided to spin off Cool Guy Paul, I’ll probably end up saying “Who knew disaster kits could be so much fun?”

PLEASE don’t “dilute” the original product, though!
