Office spin-off has cast it’s first character

Thanks to Hot Dog Fingers for the tip:

BuddyTV has posted: Despite not having a premise nailed down, the spin-off has its first cast member: Aziz Ansari. Aziz is a part of the MTV comedy troupe Human Giant and will be featured on the next season of Scrubs as an intern.

There is also an interesting rumor floating around that Rashida Jones is being considered to helm the spin-off.

When you think about it, that would make sense. We already know that Karen is the current boss of the Utica branch of Dunder-Mifflin. The spin-off could just center around that particular branch with a whole new cast of characters. Plus, it would leave room for any of the Scranton Branch to hop on over or just stop by. Hmmm…I like it! :)

Well for all us JAM fans, I don’t know if I’d like to see Jim’s character “hopping on over” to Utica or wherever Karen’s character will be…already, I’m getting a bit nervous… :-(

Always happy to be tipster Donna.

Lisa, I don’t think we really have to worry too much about Karen interfering with JAM anymore. Interaction between Jim & Karen is akward at best and that just makes for better comedy.

There’s an old saying: “Ain’t no party like a Utica party, ’cause a Utica party don’t stop.” So, I suppose this rumor makes a certain amount of sense…

John Krasinski was on Rachael Ray and he said that as far as he knew, the spinoff was more like “from the makers of..” and not really a spinoff.

Are we sure that they’re going to incorporate anything Office into it?

I don’t pay a ton of attention to stuff like this, so I could be wrong, but I’m just wondering.

Cori, I don’t believe the cast does know much at this point. But Greg Daniels himself has called the new show a “spin-off of The Office” so I would assume it has at least somethings in common with it.
