Spin-Off news & more ~ 6/18

We keep hearing from The Office cast interviews that “no one knows” what’s up with spin-off. Well, turns out they’re not just being coy. No one – including the show’s executive producers – knows exactly what NBC’s “Office” spinoff will look like yet. But at least they’ve started assembling a cast with the signing of actor Aziz Ansari.

NBC announced in April that it had ordered a spinoff of its Emmy-winning comedy, despite not having any details locked down at the time. Creators Greg Daniels and Mike Schur have several ideas in the air and expect to settle on one in the next few weeks.

In other news, Greg Daniels wife, Suzanne Daniels, has resigned her position as President of Entertainment at Lifetime Television to spend more time with her family. She will remain on as a consultant.

    I really like the idea that a spin-off show is planned, and absolutely no one knows anything about it. NO ONE… no producers, no director, no writers… what’s NOT to love about this project?

    Can you imagine the stress of the writers on this one? It’s already news-worthy and it hasn’t even been created yet!

    I don’t understand the need to create a spinoff. Isn’t the Office enough. People are always trying to get more money out of something successful.
