Ryan leaving?

Scranton Branch Office blogs:

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that everybody’s favorite white-collar criminal is taking a leave of absence from the show (as both a writer and actor) to appear in Quintin Tarantino’s latest movie Inglourious Basterds.

Specific details about the length of the leave are sketchy. Even whether or not he will even return. To read the full story in EW’s The Ausiello Files, go here

    Well that’s going to suck.

Well, this is a sad but seemingly neccesary move Ryan in season 5 seemed out of place at reception, not to mention it’s very unrealistic that DM would allow Michael to give him a job. Plus, now that Pam is returning we have a legit out for Ryan the character. Hopefully BJ will return as a writer, he’s hilarious, but working with Tarantino is a once in a lifetime oppurtunity that could vault his career.

I was also confused about this move on BJ Novak’s part, but was assured by a friend of mine that it will be good for him at this point in his career. I can’t imagine how leaving The Office could be good for anyone, but that might just be my obsessive bias! ;)

After watching last night’s episode, I can see how they will set up his leaving. Running as far away as he can from Kelly makes for an easy exit story. :)

I was glad to see that it wasn’t your mistake with the spelling of “Inglourious Basterds.” When I first saw that, I thought “Son of a beach, I’ve got to correct that.” Whew.
