BJ Novak In Inglorious Basterds

Tuesday, August 25, 2009

Hi I’m Suri, otherwise known as HDF or HotDogFingers around these here LITO parts. I’ll be joining the LITO posting crew, so I hope you enjoy any tidbits I bring to the site.

Until we get started with the new season, I thought it would be fun to talk about the cast member’s other projects. Inglorious Basterds opened this past Friday starring Brad Pitt and BJ NovakĀ is part of the cast. Here’s an Access Hollywood clip of BJ talking about his experiences on the set and the movie trailer. I haven’t seen the movie yet, but if anyone has seen it, I’d love to hear what you thought. Feel free to discuss in the comments.

It’s actually spelled Basterds with an E. Tarantino says he won’t say why.

Thanks for pointing that out EB. I’ve corrected the post. Maybe he didn’t want to have any search engine problems, you know with parents that monitor their kids internet use or companies that monitor what their employees do online. My company does that and when the executive assistant was planning a company event, the system kept blocking an e-mail from the caterer confirming the menu because it contained the the word “breast”; as in chicken breast.

Ha ha, I’ve heard of people having trouble looking for recipes online because of that same reason. Maybe it was searchability, as well. For instance, if you want to find info online about a store called FQPZ, it will be a lot easier than to find something on Joe’s Shop. A unique spelling ensures you don’t have to worry about climbing the page ranks.

Great first post, Suri! And your story about the offending chicken breast is so good, it should be incorporated in an Office episode! :-)

You have a point there EB, people have to think outside the box in this information age we’re living in; so that may have been his motivation. He tends to be unique anyway.

Thanks Bob. I agree, but I think the story would have fit in best with E-mail Surveillance and that episode was done back in Season 2.

Hey, Suri! While I was researching why Tarantino spelled it “Basterds,” it occurred to me that he ALSO spells the OTHER word in the title “Inglourious.” So, I think the entirely misspelled title might be some sort of homage to “Michael Scott.” Which could be why he cast BJ Novak in the film. It’s a plausible theory…
