There was a tense moment in “Shareholders Meeting,” when Jim Halpert confronted Phyllis about taking a long lunch. Phyllis sheepishly admitted that Bob Vance took her to “Capella’s” Restaurant, and they had a few drinks. According to my Google search, the closest “Capella’s” is a pizzeria in Hanover, Pennsylvania, which is, oh… about 150 miles southwest of Scranton. Capella’s is only a few miles from the Maryland border. No wonder Phyllis was gone so long for lunch! And don’t get me started about the message that sends about Bob Vance’s irresponsible drunken drive back up I-81!!! Read on »

“Shareholder Meeting” opens with Dwight Schrute portraying “Recyclops” for Earth Day. Earth Day is celebrated on April 22nd, so naturally “Recyclops” would make an appearance on November 19th. We are shown footage of Dwight through the years at Dunder-Mifflin, doing his earnest-but-offbeat best to emphasize this message: that pollution and waste are bad, and conserving and recycling are good. I’m guessing that NBC insisted on shoehorning this “green theme” into the episode, and the writers petulantly rebelled by half-heartedly slapping it together. At least I hope that’s what happened. Because as a message about conserving our resources… it was a wasted opportunity. And as a funny cold opening, well… maybe “Recyclops” can take the scraps of the script and re-work them into something up to “Office” standards. Read on »

Trying to find Scranton references in this latest Office episode is like searching for clues in a murder mystery! The one obvious but oblique reference is the “Lackawanna Trolley Museum.” The actual name is the “Electric City Trolley Museum.” Before I even had a chance to research this, alert LITO reader Dave alerted me all about it! Thanks again, alert LITO reader Dave! Read on »

This is something you will only find on LITO. My friend from Prep school’s father attended Denison University during the same time as our Steve Carell. This allowed her to procure a college yearbook photo showing a very 80′s Steve Carell complete with dark black mustache and a hint of a mullet. Boy I don’t know if Steve would like this going around The Office set.
Enjoy!

Good evening fellow LITO-ites! As I prepare to write the recap for last night’s episode, “Murder” on this unlucky Friday the 13th my Jersey shore town is being deluged with tidal flooding and blown-away with gale force winds. Things are so bad here that they closed the local schools for the day! Crazy. Lucky for me, we live in a high-ground area of the city. Unlucky for me, my three young children are running around my house like looney-toons driving me up a wall. Oh well. Hopefully this Friday the 13th finds you all in a luckier situation than I am. Or if not, feel free to share your tale of woe in the comments section. Onto last nights episode, “Murder”.

The Cold-Open shows Dwight demonstrating his martial arts skills in the office. Why? Once a year they allow Dwight to hold a seminar to explain the latest changes and techniques in martial arts to the staff. Again…why?! As Jim explains it with his trademark sarcasm, “the one thing that 1000 year old martial arts are known to do is…change“. Read on »

This is a funny coincidence as I was just writing an article that mentions this movie. Slash Film has the trailer for the Steve Carrell/Tina Fey joint effort (Thursday nights will never be the same!) that comes out next summer. Check it out and a little article about the movie here.

“The Office” double date in “Double Date” takes place at the upscale Scranton restaurant “Paparazzo’s.” This fine dining establishment would be the source of many fond memories for me, growing up in Scranton. This is where I would have gone before my senior prom, and where our wedding rehearsal dinner party would have been held, if indeed such a wonderful restaurant existed. Unfortunately, it does not. The Scranton area does have many nice Italian restaurants, so I suppose “The Office” should be given points for at least coming up with the name “Paparazzo’s,” which sounds like it ought to exist. If I owned an Italian restaurant in Scranton, and business was slow, I would quickly change the name, and slap a “Paparazzo’s” sign above the door. Read on »

First I must apologize for the late post.  This should have been up days ago, but I was hit with flu and it really knocked me out.  So now I hold the record for the fastest reacp and the latest one.  I wonder what record I’ll break next?

Now on to the recap:
Question – What happens when your boss is dating your mother and he forces you to go out on a double date with them?

Answer – Lots of painfully awkward moments that eventually lead to, well, we’ll get to what it leads to a little bit later; I wouldn’t want to ruin the punch line.

I had high hopes for this episode, I can’t say that I was as impressed with it as I thought I would be, however, it did give us the chance to see the lovely Linda Purl again and it had some high points and a hilarious line by Creed; so all in all I’ll give it a B+.
