You gotta love Michael for always being so childlike and taking everything so literally. He’s just putty in the hands of Jo and all her sweet southern charm.

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – March 5, 2010 – NBC has renewed three more of its Thursday-night comedies – “30 Rock” (9:30-10 p.m. ET), “The Office” (9-9:30 p.m. ET) and the freshman series “Community” (8-8:30 p.m. ET) for the 2010-11 season. The returning programs join the previously announced “Parks and Recreation” (Thursdays, 8:30-9 p.m. ET) that also will return for next season.

It’s been 19 hours since they arrived at the hospital. Jim tells the camera that Pam is fully effaced and 10 inches–he means centimeters, dilated. Even though he has no idea what any of that means, he knows the baby is close. I guess Pam really could have waited until midnight. He is informed by the nurse that Pam is ready to push, so he goes into the room to assist her. Meanwhile, Michael comes in with a huge pink balloon bouquet and quickly enters Pam’s room without warning or knocking. We hear Pam screaming and Michael promptly leaves the room, turning a little white and horrified at what he has seen. I imagine it must have been a bit like the birthing scene in Knocked Up, when Seth Rogen’s friend goes in to see if he can help and the baby is crowning. I suppose that would have been a bit too graphic for network TV. He promptly reports to the camera that he has to go wash his eyes. Read on »
Because this is such a long episode, I decided to do the recap in two parts, just like the show. I must apologize for the late posting, but my husband had surgery on Friday and it was a roller coaster weekend after that, and then Monday happened and so did work and well, you know the drill. I’ll try to get the second part up later today. Until then, I hope you enjoy the first part:
I don’t know how I got so fortunate to be able to recap the biggest episodes so far this season: the big wedding episode, Niagara Falls, Secret Santa, and now the next big office event: The Delivery. We are finally going to meet Baby Halpert. But as everything else in The Office goes, it won’t come without some crazy, inappropriate and awkward exchanges from our favorite office mates. Even our usually cool-headed Pam lets a little Michael Scott rub off on her as she attempts to maximize her HMO benefits. What people are reduced to because of health care today, don’t even get me started.

I was born in Scranton at the Community Medical Center. Years later, my mother got a job there, working as the nightshift switchboard operator. So… I was, uh… hoping that Pam and Jim would choose that fine establishment as the place to bring Cecelia into the world. But they opted instead for the Moses Taylor Hospital, which is on Quincy Avenue, closer to the heart of downtown Scranton. The Community Medical Center would have been the better choice, as it is an easier drive from the mythical Dunder-Mifflin office. But I realize that’s just me talking, and it sounds a lot like the logic of the mythical Dwight Schrute.
