Steve Carell is full of poop.

Tuesday, July 20, 2010

Steve, I love you, man. You are hilarious. Michael Scott is, in my opinion, one of the greatest television characters of all time. You’re a good soldier and no doubt a great guy to work with…. but stop. Come on, now. Don’t even try to make us believe this.

I bet you even believe it. You seem to have minimal ego and refuse to believe that this show centers around you. Steve. One thing I should point out. THE SHOW CENTERS AROUND YOU. Other than All In The Family, I can’t think of another T.V. show where every character on it either functions around, with, in spite of or in direct conflict with the main character. All of those characters were created to deal with you. Think about it. Michael Scott drives every plot of every episode. I love Jim and Pam. I love Dwight. I love all those guys. But the day to day nonsense that occurs in the fictional office of Dunder-Mifflin is because of Michael Scott. Who will generate the nonsense now? The cringe-tastic moments? The only way it can continue is if they DON’T try to replace that driving force. Just make it a true ensemble where the conflict and office tedium is evenly distributed. But there will still be no Michael Scott and the show is about the nonsense that Michael Scott creates! I just can’t see it. Steve, you are a loyalist, no doubt. You could’ve left 2 seasons ago, probably. But NBC should just end The Office after you leave. Don’t give them any other ideas than that one.

When I saw the title of this post, I thought of Meredith’s bratty son, Jake. In “Take Your Daughter To Work Day,” he called Dwight “Mr. Poop.” Now I realize that Steve Carell is the REAL Mr. Poop.

Well said, Kevin! I WONDER if Steve believes what he’s saying…

Thanks Bob…and I wonder too. That’s why I called him a good soldier. Championing the “Office” brand even as he leaves. But I too, wonder if he believes the show can carry on. Maybe he does.

Thanks for sharing your Office parody. I really think your company needs a “punchier” slogan. How ’bout this?

“Have you ever tasted a rainbow? At Cerrao(ECOCYN), you will.”

It wouldn’t hurt to have a couple Great Danes running around your office, either. ;-)

Though im as big as office fan as anyone, I think with steve leaving they should just end the show with dignity. Personally, I thought when they sold the company to sabre And had that review show, i thought they were setting up an ending right there, apparently not. Trying to replicate the “micheal scott” character would be utterly impossible and any attempts to do so would just come off as pathetic. But you know NBC, they have a hit show and those come few and far between for that network so im sure they’ll try to keep it alive for as long as possible and distort things so badly that the show will just end up getting canceled altogether instead of giving it a proper ending

Yeah, that’s my biggest fear, Knox. I just hope that since they are definitely continuing it, the collective talent there will keep the standards pretty high.
