Timothy Olyphant in the upcoming Office season

Tuesday, August 3, 2010

A story on the TV Guide site details some of the upcoming episodes for Steve Carell’s last season, which may be shaping up to be a good one. Justified‘s Timothy Olyphant (and if you’ve never watched Justified, you should – he’s excellent in it) will be appearing in a couple of episodes as a rival salesman. And it sounds like it could be funny. Read the story here.

I have not watched “Justified,” so I’m not familiar with Timothy Olyphant. But since I’m from Scranton, I AM familiar with Olyphant, Pennsylvania. It’s a quaint little town nestled next to Dickson City, where Michael Scott’s mother lives! So, I’m guessing that the town is named after Timothy Olyphant’s great-grandfather, which is really cool idea! :) And NOW his great-grandson will guest-star on “The Office,” which supposedly takes place in Scranton… So, win-win-win!

I’ve been reading synopses of episodes from the upcoming season, and they sound good. So I’m getting somewhat excited!

The Office is an American comedy-drama television series broadcast by NBC. An adaptation of the BBC series The Office, the series depicts the everyday lives of office employees in the Scranton, Pennsylvania, branch of the fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. To simulate the look of an actual documentary, it is filmed in a single-camera setup, without a studio audience or a laugh track. I have seen each and every episode of this show.

THAT… was one Office fan’s passionate response to the casting of Timothy Olyphant. It obviously affected him deeply.
