A petition is now circulating the ‘net calling for the reunion of Steve Carrell and Stephen Colbert. If you want to check out the whole petition and/or sign it, click here!

Dear Greg Daniels and the Producers of The Office,
As dedicated fans of The Office, we all spend time (especially in those sad summer months!) speculating about our favorite characters and their relations, as well as the perfect actors to play them. Who would Michael’s mother be? Who’s Larissa Halpert? But among fans, one idea seems to crop up far more than any other: Stephen Colbert as Gould, Jan’s chilly ex-husband.

Here’s a picture from the segment “Even Stephven” from The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Personally, I love that “The Office” doesn’t rely on guest casting and rarely uses it (though “The Client” with Tim Meadows was amazing) and of course, this is just a petition started by a creative fan :-) But I think it’s a fun way to show your support for “The Office” and connect with other fans. That said, I would love to see Steven/Stephen go head to head again!

Even Stephen

Happy Friday! I hope everyone has a terrific weekend!

Here are some fun links to investigate while we wait for Monday’s upfronts and Thursday’s season finale. We are lucky to have LITO reader Mary, a media buyer and planner for national television, report back about the upfronts! More on Mary, her job, and the upfronts next week.

1. Chris Dickerson of the WV Record interviewed Bobby Ray Schafer, a WV native. Schafer talks about how the “Bob Vance, Vance Refrigeration” line never gets old:

“It works every time,” Shafer said. “It’s funny because I did it recently when to Greg Daniels’ (executive producer) house. And (movie director) Harold Ramis, I did it to him and to Greg Daniels’ kids. It got a huge laugh. I did it to Kevin Reilly, president of NBC.”

Dickerson also spoke to about Julie Elgar, who runs the “That’s What She Said” human resources/law blog, which uses “The Office” to relate to litigation

2. New Movie for Rainn! IGN reports,

“The flick, Variety says, will feature Wilson as a failed drummer who gets a second chance at rock stardom. The trade describes his role as that of a modern-day Pete Best, the drummer who left The Beatles before the band became a worldwide phenomenon.”

Sounds like a good time!

3. A new blog from Kate Flannery

4. Also from TV Guide: an interview with Oscar Nuñez

5. Here’s the flyer for the Rooftop Party in Scranton next Saturday, May 19. I love the fact that there’s a “That’s what she said” joke on it!

6. Last Dwight Blog of Season 3
Some useful tips for dealing with ninjas:

“Show them that you know they’re there. Shout out, when entering a new locale or a suspicious locale, “I know you’re there, Mr. Ninja. Your element of surprise has now been taken away” [I’ve gotten many ‘funny’ looks for this kind of preparedness, but so be it. That is a risk I’m willing to take. Are YOU!?]“

Wow, this is turning into a really long post, because I have a few more things to mention:
-I love getting your e-mails! Keep ‘em coming.
-We’re working on integrating the forum and the main page. Join in the conversation!
-Are your comments being eaten by the SPAM FILTER? Hopefully not, but Bob has had to deal with this problem! We’re working on fixing it, but if you repeatedly post comments and they don’t ever show up, let me know and I’ll ‘rescue’ them from the spam filter
-I feel compelled to mention that last night at my event, some of my friends watched the show, then came to the event. We actually had to go to separate rooms and avoid talking to each other because I didn’t want to know what happened, and they didn’t want to accidentally spill the beans! I just thought Office fans could appreciate that.

You’ll probably hear more from me later, but I’ve got a busy week ahead of me (1 event down, but 9 more to go) so just in case, have a FABULOUS weekend!

And look for another one of those special LITO posts next week ;-)

It’s always great to see people we admire giving back to the community. You may have heard about Rainn Wilson’s Full Circle-Learning Benefit, but I wanted to include some info on the site. Full-Circle Learning sounds like a terrific program that emphasizes the “it takes a village” parenting strategy, and the event is appropriately being held over Mother’s Day weekend, so guests can make donations in their mother’s names–awww! :) Yeah for Rainn being awesome! Read the full press release at OfficeTally.

This limited-capacity engagement includes dinner and entertainment and will be held at 701 Enchanted Way in Pacific Palisades. The cost of admission is $200. Will-call tickets may be reserved by calling Full-Circle Learning’s alumni projects event coordinator Ellen Jaresko at 323-462-7066, or by emailing FullCircleBenefit@sbcglobal.net.

LITO reader Chris Maghintay used Brian’s audio clips to create this addictive dance remix of Office quotes and the theme song. Speaking of the Audio Clips, I know how big of a hit they were, and they will make a return very, very soon :-)

Mindy Kaling’s Blog, entitled “Things I’ve Bought that I Love: A place to discuss things we’ve bought that are frivolous and fun.” I wonder if “Mindy Ephron” is a tribute to Nora? It’s definitely a fun blog.

1. Fan documentary about “The Office.”  Seat18B needs fans with access to a video camera to videotape themselves answering questions for a documentary she’s making for a film class.  Sounds like a good time!  Respond to her blog post on Myspace with questions or comments.  Her deadline is May 7.

2. Stephanie Bernhard of Brown University reports on John Krasinski’s recent visit to his alma mater in the Daily Herald.

Krasinski recalled living in Wayland House and making friends with the Sharpe Refectory staff. Theater performances often prevented him from experiencing a full Spring Weekend, but Krasinski said he always enjoyed Dave Binder’s concert. “My parents are here, so don’t say anything bad,” Krasinski said when a student asked him to elaborate.

3. The always-fantastic “Weekend Tally” at OfficeTally.com.  Highlights this week: an article about John’s upcoming movies, those Poor Richard’s Pub t shirts (even though the owner says he doesn’t like the show, boo!), and link to The Brothers Solomon trailer (starring Jenna).

4. SPOILERS.  Okay, here’s the thing about me: I hate spoilers and even most episode previews.  But personally, when I go to a website I regularly visit and see a preview or spoiler sign, I usually cave and watch it/read it, then regret that I did because the episode isn’t as “fresh” as it could have been.  I know many of you feel the same way because of the comments you have posted.  At the same time, as the writer of LITO, I also feel like it’s my job to provide information in a responsible manner.  So here’s my new plan.  Provide a link to a link of the preview.  If this is the stupidest thing you’ve ever heard, let me know.  But I feel that by adding one more level, I can make sure that the people who see it know what they are getting themselves into :) .  Without further ado, here’s a link to OfficeTally’s spoiler-ific posts on Rashida Jones on Martha Stewart and “Women’s Appreciation” previews.  Warning: the comments ALSO may contain spoilers, so you might just want to visit the mainpage.

Since we still have one week and one day until the next episode, I thought I’d post some fun links. The other day, I started wondering if there were any good “Which character from ‘The Office’ are you?” quizzes. I posted a few that I checked out after the jump (along with my own set of ratings).

Like a lot of TV-based quizzes, most of the answers are obviously attributable to a certain character.  It was fun to take the quizzes, but I feel like there must be some better ones out there.  Anyone know of any good ones?  Or better yet, has anyone created one?

I was checking out a Paley Fest recap over at Zap2It and came across the trivia questions producer Greg Daniels asked the audience.  I’m embarrassed to admit I could only answer #4 without any outside assistance, and I’ve seen every episode multiple times.  I’ll look up the answers and post them later this week.

THE TRUE TEST

The evening ended with Daniels announcing a trivia contest, questions of various difficulty levels. “Some of these are hard and some of these are medium hard,” he said, to which someone [I read in another article that it was Phyllis Smith]  promptly added, “That’s what she said.”

1) What is Andy’s Call of Duty handle?
2) What is Michael Scott’s favorite sandwich?
3) What was Dwight’s birthday present to Michael and what was written on it?
4) What was the name of Michael’s screenplay?
5) What is Karen’s screen name?
6) What is the certificate say on Michael’s wall?

One of our own has taken on an awesome project. Our forum moderator Adam, with the help of others in the forum, has begun transcribing each episode of The Office. Adam has the episodes posted up on a site in a clean and easy to manuever manner.

LITO reader Toni wrote in with a good tip. In the episode called “Michael’s Birthday, Michael proclaims, “Oh, fun fact. I share my birthday with Eva Longoria. So I have a perfect icebreaker if I ever meet Teri Hatcher.”

Well a little googling tells us that Eva’s birthday is March 15th…so happy birthday Michael. In celebration, here are the deleted scenes from the birthday episode.

I just got an email from a very observant LITO reader named Tyler:

I dont know if this has been covered or not…but, i noticed that the guitarist for kevins band is the same guitarist on the booze cruz. Im not sure about that rest of the band though.

I think he’s right. Here are the pictures from the Booze Cruise and from the wedding. If it’s not the same guy than they have the exact same hair and they are both left handed guitarists. (I think it’s the same guy.)

Ol’ Kevin was probably doing some recruiting while they were on the cruise.

This morning I received this email from LITO reader Jessica:

Hi there. Thanks so much for keeping us updated on all the good Office info! I wanted to let you know that I was flipping through Reader’s Digest yesterday and found a short article that Jenna Fischer wrote about her move from Missouri to L.A. I can’t find the article on the internet yet, but you should check it out; it’s a cute article!

I was going to wait to post about it until I could find a copy to scan for you, but luckily the great tanster at OfficeTally.com has found a copy for us. You can check it out here.
