I think she's different in some respects but nothing bad. You know I love Pam, and not just cause of Jenna( ). I really identify with her in a lot of ways. I really care for Pam a lot as a character. Now, she has been really interesting this season but in a good way. First of all, she's pregnant. If that doesn't change you in some small way, then I don't know what will. Pam losing her mind with, and then eventually striking Michael is a real good indication of how she has changed a bit but actually is the same old Pam we love. Still sorta shy, still wanting to be liked, but completely off the rails with what Michael has done and then acting on it in an unusual way. I liked that. And that last scene of "Murder" really made me laugh, too. Pam playing along with her knuckleheaded co-workers and telling an exasperated Jim that her keys are in her purse. I loved that. Yeah, it's unusual but not completely insane, I don't think. She just had a stressful wedding, she's trying to become a profitable salesperson, she's pregnant and now, her job may, along with her husbands, go poof. I have no problem with Pam Beesly(Halpert? Boy, that's still weird to me) this season. _________________ "You gotta get out there and EARN, son!"

I think the problem is everyone wants Season 2 JAM magic back. Me too! But I know it ain't happening people! They're not the cutesy couple anymore who go all mooney-eyed every time they cross paths in the breakroom. They're married co-workers trying to balance a precarious job situation, new house, pregnancy, etc...
I agree Kev, that if that doesn't take a toll on the characters, what would? _________________ "Sandals Jamaica Mon" |

Bob and I (yes, I am speaking for Bob here!) think you should still go with that Asian buyer idea in one of your awesome c/o's! All that talking about it, I'd love to read your final version of it sometime.
I love Kathy Bates. I can't wait to see her in action on the show. I just saw her in Revolutionary Road on HBO the other night. She's great. _________________ "Sandals Jamaica Mon" |

...(ahem)... ... I, Bob, being of sound mind and body, do hereby grant Donna my LITO power-of-attorney, allowing her to speak for me in cases such as the above aforementioned.*
* In other words, KG, would you just write us a new C/O already? And the "Asian buyer" angle is so full of cringe-inducing, politically-incorrect possibilities that it would be a darn shame to shelve it! Just write it and we'll drop all this talk about legal action. |

I'm just excited that the Office will be back this month. January 21st is my wedding anniversary. New Office is a great gift.
I think that Pam's character is different, but she's still the same old Pam at her core. I think it's fine the way they are handling the birth and it makes total sense; managed care being what it is. She shouldn't get gypt out of a day at the hospital. Truth be told though, once you're there you can't wait to leave. |

Man, the hospital is just looking to kick you out when you are there after a baby! It's like "Ok, you got your car seat? Good. Here's a hat, a blanket and your baby. Hit the road." lol...
And yeah, Pam will always be Pam at her core. She's been a lot of fun.
Early congrats, HDF!! |
Thanks Kev. We haven't really made any plans yet. I figure we'll go out to dinner or something and then exchange gifts. I think my husband is getting me a watch. I've been without one for months now since the Wittenaur he bought me for my birthday after we first got married in 2003 broke.
I had my twins at Hackensack Hospital and that place is a literal palace. The nurses are so nice and they take really good care of you. My niece thought she walked into a hotel when she came to visit me and the babies. Even then, I was so glad to be going home when they discharged all of us.
I hardly slept in the 4 days I was there and even with my husband staying in the room with me the entire time; I was a wreck with one baby in the NICU and one in my room most of the time. I was in excruciating pain from the surgery and I spent half the time crying because my mother was having a nervous breakdown and couldn't handle anything when she was supposed to be helping me and the other half of the time trying to make arrangements for when I was going to be home (i.e. baby nurse). I was on the phone practically all day and trying to nurse, pump or make it down to the NICU for a feeding all night. One doctor even said to me, "Welcome to the hospital where you're supposed to rest and get well."
Ok, not everyone has that experience with two babies and all and some women do send the baby to the nursery and sleep - but I think most women are happy to be going home when the time comes. Donna, any feedback? |

My children were born at Shore Memorial Hospital which literally overlooks the bay in Somers Point, NJ. The maternity ward was only a few years old when I had my first child, so it was pretty state of the art. The rooms were done up like hotel rooms and some of them even had water views! But I have to agree with you Suri that even with all that (and a nice staff) I was ready to go home.
There are so many people in and out of your room that you never can really rest. Plus, I come from a big family and everyone wanted to visit at the hospital.
It's my humble opinion, that only immediate family should go to the hospital to see you. Everyone else, wait a week or so to visit at home. It's too hectic and your sitting there trying to nurse and get adjusted to a new baby all while wearing a hospital gown with your butt hanging out! Too much pressure to make small talk when all you want to do is hang with the baby & rest.
I was lucky that I didn't have to go through any surgery, and none of my babies were ever in the NICU. But even with all that good fortune, I was ready to go home.
| Quote: | | But when it's time to go, it's time to go! lol... They get you out of there. Mostly I think it was our anxiety when we realized that there is no net. It's you and a baby, no instruction booklet and a wheelchair ride to the unknown.. lol... |
That feeling hit my husband and I when the nurse came in to show us how to bath our first child and to take care of his umbilical cord stump. She made some sort of comment like, ""from here on our we'd be the ones in charge of bathing". For whatever reason, it freaked us both out. After that comment we watched her bath my oldest like our lives depended on it! lol Too funny. But my third baby, I was like the old pro. _________________ "Sandals Jamaica Mon" |

Lol... yeah, that panic starts to set in, boy. I know exactly what you mean. Eda and I were just talking the other day about how much we enjoyed bathing William. He was so cute in that little bathtub.
And I agree with you, Donna. There should only be immediate family at the hospital for a new baby. It's just too much otherwise. _________________ "You gotta get out there and EARN, son!"

It's a little early for me to be posting the next new episode's thread in the Episodes forum, so I'm posting it here if you guys want to discuss spoilers.
S06E15 - Sabre
4 FEB 2010: (via Wikipedia) Sabre comes in to take over Dunder Mifflin and Michael has difficulties accepting their new policies. Erin is waiting for Andy to ask her out while they work on a welcoming song for the company's new owners. Meanwhile, Jim and Pam interview for a local daycare center they hope to get into. Kathy Bates guest stars.

I'm UP. And I'm gettin' antsy for an all-new Office... all killer and no filler! And... ... I'm anxious to see if the show feels any different under the directorial leadership of John Krasinski. Of course, I'm sure a lot of people wonder what it would be like under JKras... |

Yes please! (ha! My husband wouldn't like that comment) But still, that's not a bad image to ponder. _________________ "Sandals Jamaica Mon" |

I already posted and locked the next official episode thread, but because of the Olympics, it won't air until the 4th of March. Feel free to discuss it here even though I'm pretty sure you guys already talked about how Pam's trying to keep the baby in. _________________ Michael: Early worm gets the worm!

The NBC Office website says the air date for "The Delivery" is March 4th. Has that changed to the 11th, and not been updated?
HotDogFingers is scheduled to do the "Delivery" recap. I like the way that worked out. I think LITO's mom with young twins is the best choice to chronicle this event! |
