Sabre corporate can let them know they've won a sales contest and the entire office is going to....Hawaii! There Dwight discovers this mysterious stone statue and the whole gang becomes cursed! CeCe will look adorable in her Hawaiian skirt at the Luau. ha
Or, dare I say it...?
Michael can take the gang on a mini-break to Lake Wallenpaupak, where he shows them how well he can waterski, but jumping a fake shark.

These made me laugh. Dwight discovering a stone statue that "curses" the Dunder-Mifflin staff is so "sitcom-y" good, that it must be an old, recycled Brady Bunch plot. And CeCe would look adorable in a Hawaiian skirt, wearing a flower in her wispy hair. I can imagine Packer, cracking himself and Michael up, by praying to the Hawaiian deity "K'mon-I-wanna-lay-ya." Can't you see Andy, singing and strumming a ukulele? KG, as a Bizarro-World cold opening, this has possibilities... 
And Michael Scott jumping the shark at Lake Wallenpaupack... that's funny in a "gallows humor" sort of way!  |

Those are pretty funny Donna. Unfortunately, at this point I don't think there's an outlandish enough story line that would shock me anymore.
Are they using the same baby for each episode? Because we've been seeing a lot of Cee Cee lately, and she looks kind of different each time. I'm sure she'd look adorable in a mini grass skirt with a flower in her hair; but which baby will get to don the Hawaiin couture?

I can't stop picturing this Office luau... Andy strumming the ukelele while Phyllis sways in a muu muu... Meredith pounding the piña coladas, while Packer sneers "Wanna get lei'd?" Michael cracking himself up by ordering a pupu platter... Kevin in a loud Hawaiian shirt with zinc oxide on his nose... Creed... well, I don't know about him yet. What ever it is, he will be mysterious. 
And to answer your question, HDF, I read where they've used different babies in different episodes. So, who knows who will be doing the hula?
By the way, I had to figure out how to type a tilde accent for "piña colada." That's as cool as the ümlaüat.  |

Yep, you're exactly right Bob. Classic Brady Bunch episode. The family goes to Hawaii and uncovers a cursed Tiki statue. Then all sorts of bad things happen to them. It was awesome and ridiculous at the same time.
CeCe would look adorable. That would probably be the only saving grace of an ep like that.

I agree HDF. How did it get to this point?
I know the show is getting a bit long-in-the-tooth, but I was just reading an article about the Simpsons being the longest running show on TV. Love the Simpsons, and after viewing their Halloween show on Hulu, I think it's still fresh and relevant. Why couldn't our show be more like that?

Here's how I would like to see The Office end: The scene will open on the Dunder-Mifflin building with snowflakes gently falling all around. The camera will then pan back, and we will see Michael Scott, clad in his pajamas in his room at the long-term care facility. He will be staring intently at the snow globe of the Dunder-Mifflin building, that he just shook up. His caregivers will be at the door, checking in on their autistic patient Michael. One of them will say "He shakes that snow globe all the time and then stares at it. I wonder what he is thinking?"
This is the famous ending to "St. Elsewhere," a TV show that I never watched. Cool ending, though...  |

That's because the Simpson's are an animated show and they sky's the limit when it comes to what they can do. I've never been a really big fan of the Simpson's as a show. They were cute in small doses as a sketch on The Tracy Ulman show when they first started out, but I never thought they were worth my time after that.

Um, are you forgetting The Banker episode where Toby sits down with the guy doing due dilligence for Sabre right before they were taken over last season? That was a flashback episode and everyone hated it. |

Lol... good point, HDF! Lol... but I'm hoping Donna means to have it show us something that we hadn't seen before. That might be interesting. They should do something like that for the very last episode. Show us something from the first episode that we didn't see, complete with an ironic Michael voice over. Actually, I would REALLY like that.

Oh, Suri... I am so sorry you didn't enjoy the absolute brilliant hilarity of The Simpsons from, say season 3 to season 12. Absolute genius and some of the hardest I've laughed watching a television show....

I know they're cliche, but I love flashback shows!

I sort of remember St. Elsewhere. Howie Mandel, right?
Once you mentioned it, that ending popped back into my head. Even though I wasn't a fan of the show, that is an iconic ending. Almost "Bobby Ewing in the shower" worthy! An ending that is mostly famous for being "out there".
Another example of that type of series finale is the Sopranos. Maybe Michael and the gang could sit down in a restaurant, play Journey's "don't stop believin" on the jukebox, and then everything can just suddenly fade to black?
My favorite series finale?
Six Feet Under
If any of you aren't familiar, the series was based on a family running a funeral home. Every week the cold-open was a stranger dying. The screen would then list their name, birth and death. Just like on a grave stone.
Then that deceased person would become their next "client". The show was mostly about the relationships within the family who owned the funeral home, but the deceased's story almost always ran as a sub-plot.
The finale showcased the future deaths of all the main characters. Sounds morbid, but it was actually very beautiful and touching. If you were a fan of the show, here is a link of the finale. Wow, that sounds pretty cool! Youtube has been blocked here ate work 
so I shan't be watching that. Not cool.
Favorite finales? Hmmmm..... I didn't care for The X-Files finale too much. The Battlestar Galactica finale divided fans of the show but I was not offended by it.Hmmmm.... trying to think of a finale I loved. I really enjoyed the Star Trek-The Next Generation finale because part of it took place in the very first episode, which was fun to see. Hmmm... gotta think more about this...

OK, what do ya think about this idea for the finale: Michael, Jim, Pam and Dwight go out to eat lunch at Cooper's Seafood, and they witness a, uh... robust man being mugged on Mifflen Avenue. Instead of helping the guy, they laugh at his predicament. This causes them to get arrested as "negligent bystanders." They get prosecuted, and the trial takes place in the Lackawanna County Courthouse. Lots of former guests on The Office are called as witnesses: Captain Jack, the IT guy-in-the-turbin, David Wallace... Ed Truck is the head of the jury...

ha! I'd forgotten about the Seinfeld finale. That was a huge let-down to alot of people.
It is hard to think of good finales! I'm going to rely on Bob for this I think. He's got a steel-trap memory. I, on the other hand, have a terrible memory.

I didn't see the "Everybody Loves Raymond" finale, but this sounds like something that would be effective with our lovable-but-maudlin Michael Scott, don't ya think? |

Thanks for the link Bob. Some of the shows on there were expected. Some I was surprised to see (Roseanne?).
I like "Everyone Loves Raymond". I didn't watch it when it was on prime-time, but I've caught a few episodes in syndication. It's a funny show. I'd like to see the finale episode. I'll have to find that online and check it out.
I never realized how many shows used the "it was all just a dream" plot-line for their finale. Seems like such a cop-out! Fans want a real finale for their favorite shows, not a lame-o easy ending with no resolutions!! I would be so sad if our show did that! (don't worry, I "knocked wood" to ward off any bad-karma for even mentioning such a horrid thing).

Apparently, this saying has been around since the first stand-up Pilgrim comedians. Well, I like it. It sounds like a Dunder-Mifflin post-Thanksgiving greeting from Packer. 
Thanks for "knocking on wood," Donna. We don't want Michael Scott to wake up at his desk wailing "It was all a dream." But, hey... This idea might be kind of fun, though: a cold opening where everybody at Dunder-Mifflin sits at their desks and discusses their favorite TV show finales. And their least favorite TV show finales. I think I think that would be pretty good... |

A friend of mine sent me a link to a "flash mob" that gathered in downtown Seattle last April. They spontaneously danced to songs featured on "Glee." This will be fun to watch if you're a "total Gleek," plus you get to see Bob's stompin' grounds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5PyIVVKoWU

He gets so excited that he clumsily joins in the dance, with hilarity ensuing. He ruins the tight choreography, and bowls over a bunch of bystanders, and... and... becomes a viral internet sensation!  Andy seethes with jealousy.  |
