Awesome episode!!!! They revived the Andy Erin romance!!! Well, sort of. Andy definitely still has feelings for Erin, that's for sure.
This episode was hilarious.
And also dramatic! |

OK, I got my slap-dash recap slapped up, and I'm ready for it to be slapped around. I wasn't nearly as enamored of this episode as most viewers seem to be, although I did like it a lot more after a second viewing. I am really anxious for feedback on this one. Danjlion liked it a lot. Maybe I wasn't in the right mood, or my right mind, or something. |

Well, I got some pretty fast feedback. Donna pointed out that Dwight wrote "idiot" on his own forehead, a clever twist that I somehow missed. Well, that does it; I'm never gonna do whiskey shots before an Office ep again!
Which brings me to another of Donna's salient points. She asked me, as a bartender, if Meredith's drinking bothers me. No, Meredith established herself as a cartoon-ish "drunk" way back in the beginning of the show. Professional bartenders can spot these problematic people pretty quickly, and we learn to "steel" ourselves for the inevitable showdowns that are in the near future. (Whenever I've got someone at the bar that I think is a heavy drinker, the first thing I do is learn their first name. It makes it a little easier when you're cutting them off, if you gently, subtly call them by their name.)
Watching a naive goofball like Erin get drunk during the episode was a lot tougher. An aspect of my job that I really like is facillitating somebody's good time, but as soon as they start getting loud and disoriented, I do everything I can to slow them down and steer them right. You got to make eye contact, and use your best "friendly-voice-of-authority," and hypnotically say "Erin, we have to talk. I'm not comfortable with your behavior." (Use the "I" message.) And, a lot of the time, that effort fails, and you have to cut them off, and then they get sad or mean. It's a tough part of the job.
Anyway, that's funny that I completely missed the "reverse prank." |

Honestly, as soon as Meredith realized that Andy wasn't driving to her house, I immediately thought that he was going to pull a Michael and try to check her into rehab. I'm sure glad the show didn't go there again. What actually happened was much better.
I thought this episode was great and the "reverse" pranking was genius. |

Sorry guys, been M.I.A. Stuff going on.
Anyway, I tend to agree with you Bob, about the quality of this episode. I didn't love it as much as HDF and the DanMan did. I guess part of it is that the Andy/Erin relationship confuses me to no end. I didn't think Andy had a real girlfriend and she just pops up out of nowhere. I liked Erin's reaction because she was truthfully jealous but I still have yet to warm up to their storyline. I'm sure I will. Also, following "Mrs. California" was a tough task for an episode.
I liked Jim and Dwight faux pranking on each other. A scene that made me laugh was when Jim realized that he went too far with the CeCe picture prank and tried to backtrack. His pantomime of "accidentally" marking up the picture was funny to me. I'm glad to see that pranking has gotten back into the show. There was a time last season for a stretch of episodes where there was no pranks at all and it felt weird. One thing though... the new girl complained. Did she write it in an email to Andy? Cause apparently she's mute. When's the last time that girl had any dialogue? Is this some sort of hazing thing the cast has going on? lol...
I liked the Daryl/Val scenes. Daryl coming back in a tux was very sweet. Also, as a black man, I am really happy to see a budding relationship between two people of color on television. Doesn't happen that often and it's nice to see. I loved how Creed saw Daryl in a tux and called him "Clarence Thomas." Lol... that's an older reference too, especially to a young audience. But it made me laugh. And since this show loves triangles like no other, can we expect Daryl's ex to come in and throw a wrench into the works? And speaking of triangles (or just staying in the field of geometry) will Andy be involved in a rectangle? Between his girlfriend, Erin and possibly Mrs. California, he could be very busy....
The Lewis Black joke made me laugh because I know who he is but you have a point, Bob. I wonder how many people know who Lewis Black is? But, you can't think for the audience, I guess. If they don't get the joke they have to go figure it out.
I miss Pam. Just thought I'd say that. _________________ "You gotta get out there and EARN, son!"

And circle gets the square! KG, it's good to hear from you. I'm glad you finally got to stick your two cents in, and I'm also glad to see that you weren't "over the moon" about this episode like almost everyone else. I agree that Andy's smart, attractive girlfriend appeared seemingly out of nowhere; surely such a chatty, insecure goofball as Andy would have brought her up in conversation many times at the office. It just didn't feel real; more like a contrived plot device.
Darryl and Val's interactions... now that feels real. And Pam had better get back soon; without her influence, we can see how fast Jim slides backwards in his behavior. |

So there I was yesterday, working out at the fitness center on an elliptical trainer. The song "I Got A Feeling" started playing on my iPod. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSD4vsh1zDA This of course made me smile, because I was reminded of Robert California's off-the-wall Black Eyed Peas rant in "Christmas Wishes." He lamented that it is "rock and roll for people who don't like rock and roll, rap for people who don't like rap, and pop for people who don't like pop." Well, I like the song, and I always perk up when it comes on while I'm working out. Would Robert say that it is "Work-out music for people that don't like to exercise?"
I like the beat of the song, and I don't pay much attention to the kinda-stupid lyrics, but I do like this line: "Fill up my cup, mazel tov." The background singers chime in with "l'chaim!" Are these words for people who don't like lyrics? |

No Bob, those words are for people who don't lament the fact that Fergie is Jewish.
Mazal Tov! My cousin had a baby boy at 3:00 am this morning.
We will also be lighting the first candle tonight as we begin the holiday of Chanukah, L'Chaim! |

Thanks Bob. I can't believe it, she's just a baby herself. She was born when I was attending college in Manhattan and I used to go over to my aunt's house in Brooklyn every weekend and play with her. I used to prop her up on a pillow and read her my text books when I had to study. She used to love it. I can't believe she's a mother herself now. Today is her 20th birthday.
Our first night of Chanukah was really nice. We let the twins light their own menorahs for the first time this year (with hands on supervision of course). They were so excited that they got to do it themselves. I made latkes with dinner and I gave my older son Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 on DVD. We haven't seen it yet, so we're looking forward to watching it together. |

I was all set to compose a cool poem to post here for the holiday. It started off "T'was the night before Christmas, and all through the forum, not a creature was stirring..." ... and then I got stuck for a rhyme for "forum." Oh well.
Since this is the "Christmas Wishes" thread, we'll just go with that. Merry Christmas, LITO.

Best Christmas Wishes to you, too. And I will now add Happy New Year, LITO! Please celebrate in moderation, though, or you'll end up like this l'il guy with a nasty hangover.
And since we seem to be posting mostly on major holidays, I'll see y'all back here on Martin Luther King Day! |

Helloooo everyone & Happy New Year to you all!!
Sorry I've been AWOL lately. Nothing dramatic to report. I just seem to be enjoying less & less computer time. I blame my iphone. if it wasn't so easy to check my email & Facebook from it, I'd be on my home computer more. Now, if only there was a LITO app!
That said, I do miss chatting with you guys and my New Years resolution is to not lose ties because my iphone is so convenient. I am in the middle of my normal winter stuff. My husbands vacation time is happening now. He took most weekends again between Christmas & end of Feb. We will be skiing as much as our schedules allow.
I hope everyone had a lovely holiday! Did I miss much? What's happening with you guys?? _________________ "Sandals Jamaica Mon" |

This is a great idea! I'll send a memo over to the LITO IT guys, to git-r-done!*
*This is the way Steve Jobs would have handled it. I just finished reading his biography... wow, what an... interesting character. All the while I was reading it, I kept thinking of the title of Michael Scott's unpublished book: "Somehow I Manage." |

Interesting character no doubt, but was it a good book? I'd like to read it if it was. I'm sure he's no Michael Scott...but still could be a good book.
Speaking of Steve Jobs, we are in need of a new desk top computer. My husband isn't a big fan of the lap top, and our desk top is starting to die. I'm thinking of going from pc to an apple computer. What type of computers to you guys have? Any suggestions for me? _________________ "Sandals Jamaica Mon" |

Well, this could be your answer right here! If you, indeed, are enjoying your iPhone, then buying an Apple iMac desktop computer (like we have) might be the way to go. One of the things I gleaned from Steve Jobs' biography was how the Apple products are all made to synchronize with one another, in a way that PCs never have and never will. You get maximum use out of your iPhone and iPod when you use Apple software. And... AppleTV is a-comin' soon. I don't even know what that entails, but my gut feeling is that (whatever it will be) Apple will do it right, and I'll want to get in on it.
Our first computer was an Apple, because Ann is a teacher, and they get an "education" discount from Apple. Subsequently, every computer and hand-held device of ours has been Apple, because they seem to be easier to use. PCs feel "clunky" when I use them at work. I don't know if you'll notice any ease of use , or have this euphoric "feeling" sweep over you if you switch , but again... you seem to really like your iPhone, so...
I thought the Steve Jobs' book was fascinating. He was equal parts "genius" and "jerk." Since he played favorites with his employees, the ones he loved, love him, and the ones he didn't... don't. And he would explode on everyone sometimes, so it was always a challenge to be around the guy. But that's what made him so fascinating. The book illustrates just how much care went into the design of all the Apple products, which has given me a new-found admiration for all of our Apple devices.
I hope my advice helps, Donna. I'm not sure, but I think that Joss and Kevin are Apple devotees, too, so it would be nice to have them toss their two cents' worth in. I don't recall Suri talking about the make of her computer. And B-Pot* from Australia might not have been an Apple user, but she sure did think different, like the Apple slogan goes.
*Do you remember B-Pot from Australia? Now, she was sassy, like your sweet mama's pajamas. |
