I thought I'd make a list of abandoned subplots and anyone can add others I forget:

1. Jim's high blood pressure

2. Angela's senator husband

3. Roberts wife having a crush on Andy

5. Erin's deliriously funny relationship with her foster brother, from when they were watching TV on the couch.

6. The Scranton Strangler!

This is a very entertaining new thread, Daniel! Applause It is quite thought-provoking. And if there is one thing I like being provoked, it's my thoughts. I'll be thinking of more of these. Think

Daniel, we here at LITO are so impressed that you have taken the initiative and uncorked a provocative new thread, that I think more is called for that just a measly cyber award; you deserve a real trophy, physically resembling an Oscar or a Dundie, one that you can proudly display in your window overlooking Burnside Street. I'm gonna get the whole LITO party-planning committee involved with creating this esteemed trophy for you. If I'm not mistaken, Jossifer is mighty handy with a glue gun, and glitter. Dancing

Back to the list of abandoned subplots:
7. Daryl's love life; his budding romance with Val, and his odd, ongoing relationship with his ex.

Wow, a real life LITO dundie award!!!! That would be awesome!!!

And to add to the list

8. Andy's strained relationship and rivalry with his brother and two parents.

I can't think of any more dangling threads at this moment to add to the list, but I will continue to ruminate on it. Think

Meanwhile, here's one I got a kick out of being reminded of: Jim's high blood pressure. There should be a quick scene in the break room where Jim is eating something like potato salad, and he enthusiastically reaches for the salt shaker. Very Happy Pam would give him the stink eye Shame on you , and he would sadly set the shaker back down. Crying or Very sad It would be like a public service announcement!

Bob,

I actually thought the high blood pressure stuff could have been used to give some dramatic tension to the season, and was hoping they would have dealt with it more. Oh, well.

High blood pressure is hereditary in my family history, and I'm the only one that doesn't take any medication for it. Occasionally, my BP will "creep up" over 130/90, with normal BP around 120/80. I thought that was really interesting to reveal Jim Halpert, a thin, otherwise healthy-looking young guy to have it. The writers should bring it up again, both as a public service announcement and for continuity's sake. I'm sure dedicated fans of The Office would enjoy such a reference.

I thought the mystery of the Scranton Strangler would be resolved in some dramatic fashion involving somebody who appeared on the show. I'm disappointed that they just let that hot potato cool off. Once a potato gets hot, you shouldn't just abandon it. Not talking

What a fun thread Daniel, I'd like to point out the obvious one:

Is Dwight the father of Angela's baby Phillip? What happened to that story line?? Think

I happened to have come across a bag of Office goodies I pulled out of the dollar bin at Target a few years back. No Dundie statues, but there are some pens, sticky note pads and magnets I'd might be willing to part with if the occasion arises where we might want to award someone a prize. Wink Wink

I think Andy's phone call to his Dad during the Angry Andy episode kind of revived this one. Then he hangs up on his Dad to boot. I'm sure that, along with the demotion, didn't win him any brownie points.

Ok, I mentioned this on another thread, but I felt I needed to post it here:

What ever happened to Dwight owning the building. He doesn't seem to do any more building maintenance related things anymore. And am I crazy, but is that Nate guy that now works in the warehouse and doesn't "technically" have a hearing problem, the same Nate that Dwight hired to be his maintenance guy for the building who got into all the trouble with the bee's nest last season?

This is a great observation, Suri! You've really got your thinking cap on today. (We could use an emoticon wearing a hat of some sort.)

I thought it was a little far-fetched that a small-potatoes beet farmer/paper salesman could swing the financing on a building that probably cost a half-million dollars. But it did set the stage for some funny plotlines. And now, it seems to be completely forgotten. It's a legitimate abandoned subplot! Like Nate's hearing! (which isn't technically a problem, but still... ) Neutral Arrow Nate.

I'm sorry Dan the Man, I just saw this thread. I just wrote about this in Donna's "Should The Office Come back?" thread. This is a great thread, great! That's been a major complaint of mine for this show, that stuff just gets kicked to the curb.I forgot about Dwight owning the building; there should've been a lot more fun with that. I was thinking of Pam's friend (cousin?) from last season that Dwight was involved with. There could've been some fun stuff with that. I gotta think of some more....

Kevin, you're right, what ever happened to Isabelle??? The last time we saw her, she was kissing Dwight in the parking lot of the bar that they all went out to after hours. Hmmm........ that's a very interesting question. They should bring her back. Wouldn't it be interesting if she showed up on his new show?

Yeah, it would. I would like to see at least another character who appeared on The Office to be in the new show. But at least address this character somewhere. What happened to her?

Here's something interesting I read on Office Tally: some fan posted a theory about a possible tie-up of an abandoned subplot, and I decided to repost it here. But since it could be considered "spoiler-ish," I thought I'd use the "secret code" method of writing about it, where you have to highlight the message to be able to read it. OK, here goes:

Since Robert California mentioned he doesn't like wearing neckties because they "choke" you, and then he name-checked a couple of "erotic asphyxiation sex clubs" that he apparently frequents, and he is a bona-fide weirdo, he is probably the real "Scranton Strangler."

Shocked

I'm not sure I'd bet any money on this theory, but it is kinda interesting. And besides, I always wanted to do one of these "secret message" posts. Very Happy

Love it, Kev! Is that Dan's new LITO "handle"? What say you Dan? You cool with being our Dan the Man?

This got me reminiscing about "back in the day" LITO. Hard to believe that I was once able to get prizes out of our old site owners to give out for contests. I think I had a Dwight Bobblehead floating around here somewhere still MIB. It may have gone missing though. I'll have to look around for it. But, if I find it, it's yours Dan! Great job with this thread. Alot of fun! But unfortunately, I can't think of any dangling threads at the moment. Probably because all you smarty-pants already mentioned the ones I was thinking of! d'oh!

Donna, you can do "spoiler" mystery text by changing the font color to white.

Unfortunately, at this moment I have nothing to add to forgotten plots.
