http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/jenna-fischer-office-we-all-want-to-return-john-krasinski-ed-helms-315029

There's been alot of speculation lately about the reality of a 9th season of The Office. I ran across this article where Jenna Fischer is quoted as saying that as far as the cast is concerned, season 9 can happen. It's all up to the network at this point.

Check it out and see what you think.
Do you think The Office should return for a 9th season?

I vote yes. Speak to the hand The 9th season will give the writers the opportunity to tie up lots of the loose ends, and build up to a grand farewell episode that (of course) will be impossible to live up to our lofty expectations; but that's to be expected. Wink

It would be awful for The Office to go out without any fanfare. Jenna Fischer wants to stick around, and finish it up righteously. And so does almost everyone else, unless Jenna is seriously delusional. I don't think she is.

I am fine with a Season Nine. A well-written Season Nine, which I believe they are capable of doing.

I also vote yes. Speak to the hand

But, as Bob said, it needs to be a well written season, something that hasn't quite happened for season 8.

An grand finale of Muchael Scott's wedding, anyone?

Ooh yes, how fun! I would love to see that, even if it is cliche.

And yes, I also think a 9th season should happen. If the main cast is up for it, then why not? There's still a lot of comic gold to mine there, if the writers choose to do so.

That would be such a hoot for Office fans. I really hope that idea is being considered. I think it would enhance Steve Carell's career to agree to do it, and it would be good for Amy Ryan, too. I think so, anyway. Confused

Danjlion, a Michael Scott wedding is a fabulous idea! Here's hoping some Office writer is considering it.

I hope they do continue the show for at least one more Season. All the previous articles seem to say that NBC will probably renew for a Season 9 if for no better reason than to launch the new Rainn Wilson show about the beat farm. Dwight is supposed to stick around until about January I think and they move permanently to the farm. You'd think he'd still cameo on The Office though; I mean, he does own the building.

Hey that's another dropped subplot that the writers could have done so much with. Remember his trying to use the building as a huge billboard and DM threatening to look for other space?

I got sidetracked reading about Jenna's film that she made with her husband Lee Kirk. It looks really interesting. I can't believe that it was filmed at the Detroit Zoo exactly one mile from my parent's house, in the winter. I recognized the big lion fountain and the polar bear exhibit. How cool. My Mom never mentioned a movie being filmed in her neighborhood, but then again, how often does she have occasion to go to the zoo? Not very often. It's actually a really nice zoo. People get married there in the building that's attached to the butterfly house.

I'll never forget the time when I was a counselor in Day Camp and we took a trip to the zoo and one kid went missing, so I went to look for her and when I got back to the front gate, the buses had left without me. I guess they found the kid, but didn't count to make sure they had all the counselors. I had to call my Mom from a pay phone to come pick me up. It was quite humiliating.

I wouldn't even mind if an Office fan-fiction writer had a whack at it! Wink

Ha ha, my comment got sandwiched in between your double post Bob. I'm in a Bob sandwich! Surprised

I had an issue when I tried to post as well. Maybe we were trying to post at the same time and we went into LITO gridlock. Can you imagine if there were more people actually posting here? We'd be in a constant state of gridlock. Shocked How could the system stand it?

Suri, this is a great story for our long-dormant "Koi Pond" thread; the school bus leaves the counselor behind on the field trip! Laughing (Ann's third grade class went to the zoo last week. I'm glad they didn't abandon her there!)

That's pretty cool that Jenna's movie was filmed at the Detroit Zoo that you are quite familiar with. Let us know all the "Detroit-icity" details after the film comes out! Very Happy

When I first discovered LITO, way back in 2007, there were so many active members that, uh... well, LITO was a veritable beehive of activity. It wasnt unusual for a half-dozen posters to be logged on at once. There are a lot less bees these days, but I still get a little "buzz." Very Happy ... Rolling Eyes

First off, I (sort of reluctantly) vote yes for a 9th season. But, like you guys said, they have to tie up storylines. That means that Jim and Pam can't just quit or go on like they are. There has to be a story there, a progression. They deserve that. The Michael wedding is a good idea; that would be fun. I would like for someone, anyone, to PLEASE touch on the storylines that were floated over the years. This season alone we had Robert California's wife seem to show an interest in Andy, Nellie and Dwight have... something ( I think HDF mentioned that this has disappeared) and a real honey of a storyline, Angela and Dwight's apparent child (Did I dream that? WTF? Well, maybe they'll touch on it before the finale). I hope Val gets touched on (TWSS) or I will be very annoyed. A 9th season would require closure for me for some of these people. It can't be half-assed or I will be very disappointed.

Secondly, I loved that "abandoned at the zoo" story, HDF! What made it worse is that you were trying to find someone else and they all broke out on you! Lol.... not cool.

Bob, I posted about it on the main site and gave a mini Detroiticity when introducing the official trailer for the movie. I thought the post was a little long, but it does feature 3 embeded video clips, so that's what really takes up all the space. If you guys think I should break it up with "more" jump, let me know.

I think I mentioned last week that Nellie, Dwight and Jim's interaction felt strange to me because it seemed to indicate that they were first getting to know each other, where in reality, they had already worked together down in Florida, so they should have been more comfortable with each other. That was when the Dwight/Nellie romance may have come up.

I am totally for a Michael/Holly wedding as the series finale. I can see the entire office traveling to Colorado for the big event. I can also see Jim and Pam moving somewhere else to fulfill a lifelong dream. Maybe Philadelphia where Jim will become a sports writer or NYC where Pam can create art, or somewhere in between, like New Jersey. Laughing

I agree that if Season 9 happens, and it will be the last season, lose ends need to be tied up and closure is in order for all the characters.

It's funny, I hadn't thought about the being abandoned at the zoo incident in years. Watching that movie trailer just conjured the memory up. It was pretty weird.

Lol... New Jersey, where all the sportswriter/artist couples live! I'd like to do both jobs, actually....

Not a bad idea for a new sitcom... three couples living in New Jersey, where they are all sportswriters and artists. That's all I got so far, except to say that whatever else happens, hilarity ensues.

Here's a tidbit about "Office Andy," or as some people may know him... Ed Helms. He is going to release an album of bluegrass music. http://www.theboot.com/2012/05/04/ed-helms-bluegrass-album/ I wonder if this is his long-awaited "rock opera," done with fiddles and banjos? Boo hoo!

I would certainly hope that Creed gets to do a guest guitar solo. Applause
